The universe may make sense again but I am still not sure what colour it is? the universe that is, I know what colour the car is, it is mainly one colour with a bit of chrome and some bits in another colour, but under cover cruiza is sworn to be secretive as for the wheels, there are four, they have black tires and are round in shape.

welcome back UC Torana thread

I'm sorry I shouldn't be so crude, I don't want the Chinese "democracy" to have me blacklisted. They're probably bugging my phone already

Hi Jason. I didnt think the flange made any difference??? Shows how much I know : )

I buy mine either from the local nut and bolt shop, or ebay. -

Cheers tim yeah the big flange ones seem to be thicker i managed to crimp one but i had to use 2 bits of pipe to do it and i didnt like how much stress it put on the tool. I love them to i had never heard of them until i read your thread and now ive got one and every thing on my torana is getting nutserted.

Searle Fasteners has a fair range of nutserts in mild and stainless steel. They also have hire tools for $20 a day/weekend.

Well, I guess seeing as you guys were happy this thread is back I figure I'd better keep going with it.

After getting the motor prepped and the intake smoothed out I gave it a spray with some engine enamel then 2pac cleared it. Sounds like I weird way of doing it I know, but it works me for. I did the same with my other toranas and the hilux too. The hilux motor is still really shiny - when I clean it : )

Apart from the actual cleaning process, the worst part about doing this was masking up all the sensor plugs, injector holes and water inlet/outlets. For the holes (injectors and waterways) I used different sized corks. The beauty of these is as soon as I've done the last coat, I can pull the corks out and the paint can flow out a bit and not leave a ridge where the paint ends. Mainly in the injector holes is this obvious. Plus it's a lot easier to stick a cork in it rather than try and get tape to stick.

I have to sump back from getting welded too.

It's an angry looking mongrel now!!!!! : )

It's weird to think that the only bit of top coat I'll have done on this car is the motor. Yay : )

Well I couldn't wait to put the motor in the car to see how it would look with the covers and stuff on so I did a bit of an assemble on the engine stand.

I think LS1 motors are pretty damn ugly, but I actually really like the look of this one. It'll look cool in the smooth torana bay, in my opinion.

Well the car is nearly ready to get painted. All the inner surfaces are done, and now the outside just needs a couple of primer touch ups from rub throughs and it's good to go.

Posted Image

The bonnet, scoop and plenum panel are all finished now too.

Posted Image

I got the painter to paint the folded edge of the bonnet skin black too. I think it finishes the panel off nicely.

Posted Image

Here's the scoop sitting on the bonnet. It will look great once it's bolted down.

Well I'm hoping the next pics I post are of the car painted.

Thanks for kicking up a stink when this thread got pulled. I'm glad everyone's enjoying it

Plus, all you mega funny buggers, I don't want to name names - Kush, Dom etc : ) please keep the funny comments coming. They make my day.

Cheers.
