Was a very nice looking UC!!

I wonder if it didn't get judged as a UC because the judges didnt look at the tags! lol.

Panel work is beautiful.

I reckon you're on the money here Chris. The modifications were so good people didn't know this car was a UC.

A real credit to you Tim, enjoyed catching up with you and talking torana's.

Cheers Mick.

Well it's weird to be writing here again, but I though I'd just ad the last few pics I have.

Here's brother helping get the rear seat back in the car.

Posted Image

Test run. Nice and cosy : )

Posted Image

Looks a tad better in the back with the rear seat in place.

Posted Image

This is the last pic of the car in my shed. A bit sentimental really.

Posted Image

On the friday night before toranafest we loaded the car onto the trailer and stuck it in my new shed for the night. It only just fit. The guy who erected it had only finished as we pulled up, so it was good timing.

Posted Image

Simon took this pic on our way to newcastle. Bloody tail gaters.

Posted Image

Still there : ) Before you say anything, the jerry can was empty. It was a just in case moment.

Posted Image

The saturday night in newcastle we stayed in Hotel Commodore overnight. We found a lovely spot in a carpark with a dead gorgeous view : )

Posted Image

Next morning it was off for a McMuffin and onto the show.

Posted Image

It was great to get to the show and see all the great quality cars there, and meet a whole bunch of you guys too.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Finally in Canberra we found a quiet place to unload the car. We wanted to drop the ramps onto a gutter so they weren't so steep.

Posted Image

This is the first time the car touched Canberra soil, so to speak.

Posted Image

Simon driving the car home from where we unloaded it, with tail light out and all : ) It sure was a relief to see it off the trailer and driving along. Enjoy brother!!!

Posted Image

So, there you go. That's me done. I hope you enjoyed the thread, if not, sucked in for reading 63 pages for nothing : )

Great work Tim, I have enjoyed reading your thread, and dont forget there is another section for non Toranas and hope you keep posting to your thread in there, as I and others like reading/seeing your rebuilds.
Your new shed looks awesome, now you should be able to take on a lot more projects. :clappin:

Cheers Paul.

Thanks guys. It has been a fun old thread : )

Matt, I give the shed a week until it's deemed too small : (

OK Bomber, here's the escort. One of the reasons for towing the torana down to canberra was so I could pick the escort up from Sutton, just outside canberra.

It's a 72 MK1 2 door with a big block 1300 with a 4 speed. Awesome!

It was a one owner car until I came along. I've named the car Dennis, after the original owner. I think it suits him.

Here's Dennis and Dennis : )

Posted Image

It's even got some badass coil overs : )

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Rust wise it's bloody amazing. It has a few dents, but that's no biggie.

I've bought a set of works flares for it so most of the guard problems will be cut off : )

This is back at my house now after a quick wash.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

It's had a shunt up the bum at some stage so the boot doesn't line up properly any more, but this stuff is easy to fix. At least it's not rusty.

Posted Image

Looks good on this side though : )

Posted Image

Loading it into the new shed. It was a lot easier to tow than the torana, as it's about half the weight : )

Posted Image

Here's the volksrod, escort, V8 hilux and LH ute all undercover finally!!!!

Posted Image

Posted Image

Hopefully I'll be getting the power hooked up on monday or tuesday next week so will be able to move into the shed properly and start working in there.

Can't wait!!!!

I've never had a shed I could fit 4 cars in, let alone a shed I could fit 4 cars in and not even really know they're there : ) hehehe

Posted Image

Well, this is it, no more escort stuff in here, as I've not done a thing to it yet : )

Thanks again to everyone who wrote in the thread or helped out with parts. I've really enjoyed doing this thread and talking to you all. Make sure you come and annoy me in the 69 camaro thread : )

Tata.

That's the Bridgestone carpark at Mayfield where you's spent Sat night isn't it? :P

Was good to meet both you guys and glad I could help out, albeit in a small way.
Well done. :spoton:

Are you gonna start a thread on the esky?

Love the shed! Definetly enough room for more projects now. Did you build the shed yourself or get pre-fab?

Great read this entire build! Thanks Dirtbad for giving me something to do instead of work each day (although my boss might say otherwise!)
THis car has been tranformed in one of the best muscle cars I've seen!

also love the little escort - I bought one of them in mint condition for $100 about 12 years ago for bushbashing around my folks place when I was in high school. Was a great little car. Sold it for about $400 after a few years of abuse! Prob a rare car in good condition these days.

No, I didn't build it. Southern Cross Sheds at Yandina is who it's from. It only took them 7 days from start to finish. Not bad!

Clint, I guess the flares would now sit maybe half a mm off the body now, so definitely nothing the plastic piping wont hide. I'll definitely be using them on anything with bolt on flares, spoilers etc.

i have just put all the nut sert in and have gone to put the flares on and i have a gape between the flare and the body due to the nut sert which the piping will not fill/cover did you have this issue? if so how did you get around it as the flare sits about 1-2 mil off the body now and on the top of wheel arch/flare arch it will not grip/hold the flare piping...

Hi milco. Yes, I had the same deal with the nutserts sticking out, so I just fitted the piping a little differently. Instead if cutting big V shape notches out of the piping I used a leather punch and just put holes in the piping, so even if the bolts are loose the piping can't come off. The holes have to be in the exact position. It took a little longer but means that the bolts hold the piping in a bit closer filling the gap. Does that make sense?
Also, because I put the nutserts in a fair while before top coat went on, I was able to build the flares up a bit meaning there was only about a 1mm gap anyway.
I hope that's of some help.

The small flange nutserts are less than half the thickness of the large flange nutserts. Once installed they are almost flat.

I used the normal flange ones on my Gemini and I cut out holes in the flare piping where the nutsert goes in and mine all sits flush

Yeah, I wasn't convinced the ones with the small flare would be able to hang on tight enough.
