I want to be able to keep an eye on my ute+trailer. and not have to park in the end carpark near the surfclub with all the public wallies next to it.

We currently have 129 entries for Toranafest this is up around 45% compared to this stage last year. With August being tradionionally the month we receive the most entries, if you haven't entered please do so.
The goody bags will cut off at entrant 250 this year and after a revisit to the foreshore we have capped total entrant numbers to 285. If we allow any more in they would be parked quite away from the main body of cars and the activities and not really feel like part of the day.
There are only a few rooms available at the motel so get in quick.
Market stalls/traders are filling nicely as well as food stalls. If you are coming up for a look (orangeLJ) the foreshore parking fills up pretty quickly and at times traffic can be very slow moving and quite congested. Around 9 am would see it pretty full but with the huge increase in numbers it may fill up earlier.
The RAAF are also holding a Air show over the same weekend at Williamtown so the entrants should see some activity in the sky over the course of the day.
If anyone has any questions please e-mail me at [email protected] and I will get back to you as soon as i can.Or you can check out the Toranafest website www.toranafest.com.au
Either myself or Mick Mc will post updates as the day draws closer, remember it is only 46 sleeps away.

Ive got the racecar on a trailer though, and want to park the towcar (my HX ute) as close as I can. Barry sorted me out though, all sweet.

I hope entrants will dress for the theme of "Living in the 70's" as the atmosphere for the Saturday night meet and greet BBQ and Sunday's Show 'n Shine will be elastic, um eclastic, um electrostatic, um egostatic, um electrical, um, well you know what I mean

Hi Chris
Not sure what Barry has said, but there are two car parks that are designated for Trailers. These are the Horseshoe Beach Car Park and the Nobby's beach Car Park.
The reason that we ask people to park their car trailers an tow vehicles up in the car park near horsebeach is because we really don't want a line of car trailers along wharf Rd.
While it maybe easier for some not to walk the extra 280m, it doesn't make the show look good from a Spectator veiw, when there are car trailers taking the space of two to three cars.
Here are the "authorised Car Parks for Trailers..
cheers

I have no idea who told them of my predicament but what a lovely gesture from the motel it is, I am proudly chuffed.
Pity I wont be able to make it this year but all going well the Dream should be. I know I am missing out on the highlight of the Torana calendar.
Cheers

Its more for security mick, not for just not having to walk as far. will see what happens on the day.
Chris
where did you plan on parking it, because depending on where you are parked at Toranafest, you probably wouldn't see it anyway?
In all the years we have been running this, I have never heard of someones tow vehicle being broken into or stolen...
Horsehoe beach is good because it mainly used by families with Pets as the beach is a "pet friendly" beach.

Bit of an update.. We are sitting at around 150 entrants already! I thought that I would put the "official" poster up for all to see..

Barry I will be dressing up (or down) for the BBQ. I'm thinking Sandals and Socks just for starters!
As I am new to the forum how do we know each other on Saturday night or even the Sunday.

AND I'm thinking probably a fig leaf for modesty sake might help
Could be a bit cool at night so maybe only a rose leaf would be all that is needed

Entrants now stand at 157 and tradionally this being the busiest couple of weeks as far as entries go I think we will break last years record.

Just wander around and start chatting to people Pete. Thats what I did last year and I would ask folk if they were on the forum and if so what their forum name was. If they arnt on the forum its good opportunity to let them know about it. Some people you can tell straight away who they are by their cars etc however dont make the same mistake I did. I saw a big fella standing in front of a HQ coupe at the motel so I wandered up and said "G'day Tiny, Im Big T". The big fella wasnt Tiny at all....... ooops

We should make it a forum member hide and seek day, or a scavenger hunt, see who can find the most forum members or atleast their cars! would meet alot more that way!

The person who goes out of their way to meet the most forums members becomes a Moderator here. Actually, maybe that isnt really an incentive.
Seriously though, a post ToranaFest thread like "Who I met at TFest" isnt a bad idea at all.

We'll meet you guys up there from our drive over the Harbour Bridge. Now I have your departure time, etc. I'll plan on lunching at Thornleigh, so that will give us some more contingency timewise.

Last Friday while shopping at Aldi's in Young I came across a record turn-table that converts the music from the old 33/45/78 RPM records to wav and mp3 formats.
Price wise it is the cheapest I've seen.
My good wife of 30 years said I could get it
So because today's weather is not fit for man nor beast I've been inside converting some of my 45/33 RPM record collection to wav and will burn a few CD's to listen to on the way, at and from Toranafest
So far I've done 25 Gene Pitney songs, some surfing instrumentals and will start on The Shadows music next.
Godamn that shows my age
