Are you guys running mechanical or electric fuel pumps?

I'm using a factory VK type and am concerned it won't do the job at higher revs.

And do Chev small block fuel pumps bolt straight up?

Jeez that's tuff, they sell it here at the pump for around $1.30.

heavy 9" too.

in all honesty, the 9 inch was a step forward, higher ratio gears available for starters, and the weight difference between full spool 9" and mini spooled borgwarner was minimal.
and you dont have a worry with it either, unlike borgwarners and replacing gears every 2 meeting, has anyone else had that problem too?

Engine: VK black carb 202 - ACL pistons, Balanced, knife edged crank.

Flywheel-Clutch: Smallest clutch mated to lightened flywheel (15lbs), clutch uses strenghtened straps.

Induction: Redline manifold, 45 Webers with 38 chokes with stacks, stock black motor fuel pump with adjustable regulator to 3PSI

Ignition: Stock regraphed Bosche VH Electronic with Bosche Super plugs no vac.

Exhaust: Pacemaker running 2" all the way to tail pipe

Cam: Kelford F14 Blank-
[email protected] .483 Lift with 1.5 rockers

Compression: Approx 10.2:1

Head 12-port cast iron Yella Terra with crow springs (Unmodified)

Power adders N/A

1/4 mile and mph
[email protected] LC Torana 98 pump + 1/4 mix of avgas (watch this space)

Driveline m20 4 speed Banjo 3.55 gears open wheeler 205x60x14 street tires (upgraded this now, 3.9 LSD Hilux diff and 235x50x15 performance street tires)

I have unofficially run faster than 103mph but I will have to wait until the 30th to try and make it official. I am now struggling hugely with traction and last time out was still spinning at 1/3 track. hopefully I have it all together now.

Rodomo, mine is like this but factory type.

To be honest I'd rather keep a mechanical pump than go to the trouble of putting an electric one in.

I can't see the number on the box but I reckon that one is G7736?
A In this pic is G7736
B Is similar to what you are running? (Not exactly the same, just a comparison pic)
C Is G4044

This from the Goss catalogue:

VC, VH, VK 80-86 6cyl ‘blue’, ‘black’ 2.85,3.3L carburetted - standard replacement metal top pump see Tip below G7736 5 940KT 6

VB, VC, VH, VK 78-86 6cyl ‘red’, ‘blue’, ‘black’ 2.85,3.3L carburetted - uprated pump - high fl ow/standard pressure see page 163 G4044 4 nr

Unfortunately, the catalogue doesn't go up to page 163, it stops at 159. :Headbang2:
http://www.noelsautoparts.com.au/Goss%20Catalogue.pdf

I'm with you and would rather run mechanical, G4044 is what I have on the Bombadoor, but I'm only feeding a 350 Holley.

Another forum member has a G4044 fitted with triple 175's and reports no problems.

Thanks for the effort Rodomo Posted Image

'B' is most like the one I have - a flat top with a series of screws around the edge.

Does anyone know how many gallons per hour (GPH) the pumps are rated at?

The small block chev pumps appear like they would fit and there are a wide range of high volume ones available.

That should give you a head start, plenty to choose from.

Basically, if they have two bolt holes they will bolt up, if they have four then they wont.

Cheers.

Thats the one im running rodomo as in you picture,

I think there on the cheaper end of the market but run the triples with a reg on the original fuel lines with no worries.

its not a chevPosted Image sorry dont have a part number.

Never even considered electric i really wanted to stick with the class bowl.

Was always told if i was going to change diffs to go borgwarner before the 9" because of weight when running a six,but i think these other cars are in a different

field and therefore . ITS CHEAPER IN THE LONG RUNPosted Image

Engine: Factory spec 202 with added oil breathers around rocker cover, side plates, dipstick tube, sump, rear main and timing cover seal.

Induction: Holden cast tuned, coolant heated alloy 1 barrel manifold. Downdraught stromberg with heavy fuel tint.

Exhaust: Carbon lined cast iron manifold type with mud insulated 1 3/4" iron oxide tubing to rear.

Cam: Factory spec, hardened layer removed with added pits.

Compression:
9.5:1 reduced to somewhere between a pfff and a fart.

Head: Yellow painted with standard sized valves and oversized valve stem seals.

Power adders: Modified air cleaner can by removing outer edges by 1"

1/4 mile and mph: 17.5 sec @wasn't looking

Driveline: Trimatic with breather treatment similar to engine specs and 3.36 diff gears.

All this under the stunning form of a HJ Kingswood, 1/4 tank, with timing carried out with meticulous attention to odometer while using a stopwatch.

(Sorry, couldn't help myself. I don't wish to detract from the awesome engines people have revealed so far.)

Engine red 202

Induction aftermarket pushrods,hi vol oil pump..basic stuff, whatever broke got upgraded.

Exhaust crappy genie headers(seemed too small) 2 1/2 exhaust with a straight through muffler

Cam Arthur Johnstone solid

Compression We never checked, had 40 thou pistons...could have used more comp for the cam in it imo.

Head xu1 head that copped alot of port work, larger valves, dual springs

Power adders cain manifold, triple webbers, longer ram tubes, electronic dissy...chev fuel pump.

1/4 mile and mph Pb was a 13.1 at old eastern creek track

Driveline m20,lightened/chopped up flywheel,modified 1 tonner clutch & 3.90 bango

Cousin in law did a 14.1 when he owned it with a hydraulic cam,m21,3.08 single wheeler.A mate & I did gave the engine a speed rebuild, also changed a few things when I was still apprentice mechanic.Went hard for what it was & didn't cost much either, probably had a high 12 in it if I'd experimented more...got sick of breaking driveline then did the efi 5l conversion.

Must admit I enjoyed driving the car more as a triple webbered six, surprised alot of people at just how quick it was back then.

That figure makes me VERY happy about my last combo.

202, 30 though over

about 8.5:1 compression

running a 356661 camshaft from this link
http://www.crowcams.com.au/media/catalogues/30.2%20Holden%206%20All.pdf

Holden stage 3 head, mild portwork

triple 1.75" SUs on long runner manifolds and running rich as shit

HPC coated extractors and a press bent 2.25" exhaust

Holden elec ignition and an old MSD 5 spark box

Made 94kW at the wheels and definitely had alot more in it with some more left in it (better tune etc)

Posted Image

New combo is shitloads quicker (when I get it running right!)

so will be interesting to get it on the dyno and tuned to see what it pulls.
