nice work jabba. Must have been a satisfying moment the spaying stopped and you cracked the top off one, stood and just stared at it with a chubby.

Sure was, i couldnt stop looking at it. After i was done i went inside for a while but i had to sneak out for another good look haha. Today i wheeled it out to see it in the light between showers of rain.

Next on the cards is to block back the clear coat and buff, its shiny but there still is orange peel.

I've started blocking back the clear coat to remove the orange peel and a few of bugs that jumped in the paint. I talked to the paint shop and they said i could either cut the clear back and buff it or cut it back and flow coat it. I've desided to flow coat it because i think the results will turn out nicer.

Ill post more pics when i'm done :).

I started the 400 about a month ago but it had way to much oil pressure, thread here.

I haven't touched the car in about a month, I just haven't felt motivated enough to work on it but ill hopefully get stuck into the engine bay for a bit while its too cold to paint.

I finally got around to cleaning the garage, now that i can move in there i got stuck into the crossmember that was making the gearbox sit too high.

I cut the center out of the crossmember than boxed it all up with 3mm steel plate.

I have to brace it a little more because it has a small amount of flex in it, if anyone has any ideas on how to strenghten the center id love to hear them.

A couple of gussets front and rear should do it.
The heaight of the gussets would be goverened by the deapth of the rubber mount.
Either 3mm flat or even 25 x 25 x 3mm angle if you can fit it in.

I found some scrap 3mm steel, i made 2 angle sections out of it for added strength and its rock solid now with NO flex :). I went abit crazy with the welding, lots of grinding needed :P.

You could start from scratch and use square or round tube and make up a new cross member?

Yeah i was thinking that, but that probably would probably have cost about the same as one i could buy off ebay and this was free :P.

I've fitted the brake booster and the radiator support panel, the radiator is just a 6 cylinder one that ill replace with a alloy unit when i can afford it. I've also fitted a few small things like engine and gearbox dipsticks.

Cars coming along very nicely. That cute little beagle will be helping chew up a few rags, hide a few tools and stuff along the way no doubt! Great dogs beagles. Keep the photos coming through, of the car as well! :D

Yep she's been chewing up everything in site, and steals all my screw drivers if i put them down in reach.

I've been spending alot of time getting my motorbike upto scratch, i ended up fully rebuilding the engine and gearbox with new bearings, conrod, piston/rings, completely new clutch assembly/plates etc. I also replaced the rear disc and old rubber brake lines with braded ones so it should stop well now :). I also sent the suspension off to be rebuilt. A box load of new parts should arrive from america next week so i can put the finishing touches on it. It has 160psi of compresson before ever being started, very hard to kick over i can tell you. It took around 4 months from start to finish to rebuild by the time I ordered all the parts needed. Looks wise i've done nothing, the previous owner has polished all the alloy so its a real pain in the ass to keep clean.

As for the monaro I havent done a huge amount, i've nearly completed the engine bay wiring. All thats left is to clip the loom out of site and pop on a few connectors and mod the single headlight wiring for twin lights. I unwrapped alot of the loom and re-routed the wires to the correct locations for the chev. I fitted the steering coloum and i will start glueing sound deadening to the firewall and plenum before installing the dash wiring. I finally made my alternator bracket fit, i thought i ordered the wrong kit off ebay so i ordered what i thought was the correct one to find that the alt still didnt line up, i ended up cutting down a spacer from the second kit and now it lines up perfectly!

The steering wheel is black leather, the flash makes it look dark grey.

Well i've actually slacked off alot in the last few months but now im ready to get back into it, i really just needed a break from it as i was getting frustrated.

Won a new alternator on ebay, 100amps should do the trick!
