Just found box it came in it is a MSD PRO-BILLET DISTRIBUTER part#8589. Only thing i can think of is iam not using the lead clamp on top because i am using dif brand of leads
looks pretty good to me mumbo there is 2 different sort of lead caps in the kit that i got might give the smaller ones a go before i start hacking into the shell
MSD don't make a cap that fits, I've tried. I ended up getting an original dissy rebuilt & regraphed to the same specs as the MSD, coverted it to electronic pickup & hooked it into the white wire on the MSD box. The MSD dissy in my toolbox waiting for the next car that it will fit into.
Cheers,
Tony.
i emailed MSD in the U.S. about this problem and it says the cap of 8437 fits this dizzy and has about 1/2 inch lower difference but is a standard leads end cap might be worth a try as well

I dont no what you guys are doin but mine fits easy no mods
The difference between the HQ and Torana engine mount plates may be enough to make the dizzy fit with one but not the other. Which engine mount plates do you have mumbo?

Don't suppose they gave you the part number of the different cap?

Correct, standard cap has female terminalsWhen they say std leads I assume that this style of lead connection isn't std. Correct?

Mine has the same cap as yours so it must be the engine mounts my engine seems to sit ferther forward. Here's how well mine fitted. I think I had HQ mounts at this stage. Torry mounts didn't really make it any better. When they say std leads I assume that this style of lead connection isn't std. Correct?
My dizy is not under the lip like yours it just in front

Another possible cause of clearance issues is the angle of the engine. The engine angle can vary considerably depending on gearbox and crossmember choice. It may be the engine is lower at the back on cars with clearance problems which would cause the dizzy to lean into the lip. A spacer under the gearbox mount may do the trick.
