Yeah I don't like how that exhaust finishes one bit either, tank looks nice though! First bit of work done on my car at a workshop was putting a tailpipe on the exhaust and the bloke put the rubber mount in a visible position, absolutely hate it! That is definitely going soon.

Anyway both tough hatches

ls2lxhatch when the fuel level gets to half way it will sit in the outer 2 sections as it is all open inside, as you go around corners the fuel should wash over the 2 humps i am hoping, once the tank gets down to half way i will refill it if possible, to stop the outer sections of the fuel from going off.

Doesn't that sort of defeat the purpose of having a large drop tank ? Why don't you just run a couple of hoses from the bottom of each side, under the exhaust at the diff end of the tank and then into the centre section where the pickup is - that way the fuel won't sit in the two outside cells. Or maybe even a couple of T pieces in the pickup lines and run outlets in each section ??

I like both hatches an any torana for that fact, but in paticular any torana that has that personal touch.
How boring would it be going to a car show and looking at toranas that have the usual big feet, flares and drop tank. You look at an XY GT Falcon by itself, nice ! Look at 15 of then all side by side. Yeah F%#@ing boring. My opinion only.

yeah, my exhaust guy fitted a muffler that has a central end and an offset end. decided to have the offset end pointing out the back. looks odd, but not worth changing now. mine also has truck mounts, the stud type, hidden well.

I'll have to look at that next time I see your car. The blue car is not going to be done the same way as the green one! Anyway we'll stop stealing this guy's thread hey? lol

Hey Black Dice, first time ive checked this thread today and, yeah, pretty amazing car your building there, looks amazing. I wouldn't fault it on a thing. The red and the black looks good.

One question, did you have those exhaust headers built or were they bought off the shelf somewhere? Do they fit well into the Torana clearance wise?

DrFegg I totally agree black is the worst colour to paint your car but it looks so dammed good, every time I wash it I have to polish it to get rid of those fine scratches that's probably why its so shiny. I have started using a microfibre polish cloth it doesn't scratch as bad as long as you don't push to hard for getting fine dust and dirt off.

SSL31 so that's who owns that orange SS hatch, I remember seeing this hatch a few years ago at Torana fest down at Parklands on the Gold Coast, the bonnet was closed and so was everything else I remember it quite well as it had a very nice stance nice set of 17" ROH wheels and a very similar looking fuel tank. I had just bought my hatch and started working on it, your fuel setup gave me the idea to do mine but I changed it a little bit, I have not seen your hatch since anywhere or at any car shows, that's why I thought it must have got sold and taken down to Sydney or Melbourne. I am hoping to have mine finished in time for the Redland Bay car show in May this year as long as everything goes to plan, I would very much appreciate seeing you there to catch up and meet a fellow SS owner.

GML-31 yes I agree it would be good to see the 2 hatches together, I'm hoping to make this possible, keep my fingers crossed I should make it to the Redland Bay car show. I hope SSL31 can make it to the show as it would make it an awesome day.

niterida I agree the fuel tank needed separate lines to each side of the fuel tank but this would make it look clattered or dangerous having the fuel lines hanging under the exhaust. I though about having a Y section inside the fuel tank to suck from each side but ended up being more hassle than it was worth.

BlownOutlaw my extractors have been custom made and are tri-Y's, they have been designed to hug the motor for clearance on both sides especially the drivers for steering, these extractors will not fit any other Torana as for the front cross member had been tickled.

We will have to catch up , I dont really show it that much , only been to 4 shows in the past 14/15 years All Holden day at Carina in 1998 ,street and rod show at RNA in 2000/2001 ,parklands down the coast that time you mentioned and street and rod show at the race coarse at Ipswich last year , Its too boring and bias for me to enjoy it...lol
I rarely take it out these days , every blue moon i might take it down to munchies for a cruze.

Might have to take you up on that offer in Redlands , even though shes not a show car , have to clean her up abit if i do go , always too busy working on my other hatch i m building on the spit and mucking around with my 4 door LXs. So my papaya SS just sits there...lol

On my tank i have four pick ups , 2 in the centre at the rear and one each side from the fronts with an internal pipes picking up at the rear of the tank.
