Hey Rob good to see you on here,my car has a 6mm clearance I know its a LJ but I think we worked it out that Adelaide were hard up against and Brisbane had the clearance.
Weather its right or wrong or just coincidental who knows.
cheers Dane

GMH service letter to dealers in April 72 advised that some early production LJ XU1 may have had the battery tray installed 1" too far back, battery tray should touch radiator support panel. Cars should be checked for battery/air cleaner foul condition as they come in for service and rectified as required.
My theory is that in early production the abovementioned LJ trays had been fitted as per the LC XU1 spec not he LJ spec.
Sorry I can't help with any definite facts about the LC XU1.
Good luck in your quest.

I do beleive that the LJ XU-1 battery tray was set closer to the radiator support panel to clear the air cleaner.

The LC XU-1 was set a little further back about 1 inch from the radiator support as it did not have any problems hitting the air cleaner due to the LC low restriction air cleaner element.

Please correct me if i am wrong .

Regards LC870

the lc xu1 is set back 25mm from the rsp, brisbane built lj are on avrage 6mm off and adelaide are touching.
the reason the lj ones where moved is because there air cleaners are wider than the lc.

ps and it makes no diffrence if the lc xu1 is adelaide or brisbane built thay are akll 25 mm off.

i hope i have been helpful.
cheers gong
