Just flicked thru most of this thread..pretty interesting what has been achieved.

Except for rego purposes there shouldnt be any problems actually converting a 4dr to 2dr....change the quarter (inner & outer), b pillar floor to roof then the 2 dr parts will slot into place.....the turret & rear window are typical on both models

top job mate. got me thinking of doing mine. lucky to have the front doors and glass already thats saved a heap of time. its gunna be tops. most times a car thats getting this sort of treatment ends up being stronger than standard due to over compensating by the owner to ensure nothing goes wrong. seam welded instead of spot etc. keep the pics coming. toranas dont run side intrusion bars do they so technically there should be no hassles. your factory doors would be no diff to cut and extended ones. i noticed your drivers door support panel that holds the door hinges is rotted is that a common thing for a lj as mine is the same. keep pics coming.

Awesome project.

Keep the pics coming if you have more!

Also... to give you some perspective on the negativity you're receiving.
Your skills are wasted. You're building something that is readily available for a price that although expensive to you, is a lot more affordable to most people than even convceiving a project like this.

Had you built something not readily available, such as a convertible torana, or an lc/lj ute (see gong's thread) you would have been met with a lot more positivity and support ;)

But, for the record, I'm impressed. Keep it up!

Sounds like a good excuse to be finishing a few conversions and making some money out of it :)

Seriously though I look forward to seeing what you do when you get back on the horse.

I know a bloke who is currently doing a 2 door KE70 corolla conversion.

Its actually not as daunting as it seems.

But it would definitely work out cheaper (in the toranas case) to buy a 2 door.

i have done an ek holden before...
i have a 4 door and want a 2 door cant find one in my price range....lic and running..
i have the doors from a 2 door
rear 1/4 and glass..
after scuff plates.
and 2 door door trims
will be doing it next month and will post photos.....

i was hoping someone has done one so i can copy it....

http://www.youtube.c...h?v=TXLGxlFyzx4

i have a 2 door ta and a 4 door lj i have no cash for a real one so i have 2 choices unpick both fronts and graft the lj onto the ta or on the lj cut and move the pillars back fill up the gap in the back doors after i shorten them and weld them in place. put in the glass and doors and scuff plates off the ta.im not worried about the interior becuase its going to be a racer but if one comes up cheap enough yeah.ive measured it all up and it doesnt look to be to big a job.pls i cant wait to see how you go .i have nothing to loose as it only cost me $500 for the both i cant get a 2 door in any shape for that money.but in all my asking around i have never heard of anyone doing it,which is strange as the lcjta looks to me to be unique in that the 4 and 2 door appear to have the same shape roofs and the rear doors become the quarters.its only the pillar that needs moving back.ill stand corrected on any of this please anyone correct me if im wrong but i hope you can pull it off

This thread is great to see,as ive sold two 4 doors last year that buyer(same bloke)was turning into two doors and he told me he had done several before,so its been done before that i know,
they both have same bodyshell and roof line so its relativly easy to do,and id say stronger than original too,not structually unsound at all as some have said in last few pages

Good luck with project, not much fun working with crook back.
in late 70,s local mech made lj 1/2 tonner, filled in behind B
piller and had flat tray, 308/5sp, huge mickey thompsons and
painted in BP green. no one drove it in the wet!!!!!! last saw it
parked out front of servo in the middle of nowhere in SA.
