You're right, Rodomo. Caps and crankcase are machined as one unit. Since this is a low performance motor (like all Holden engines) changing the cap on one bearing shouldn't be too much of a concern. That could lead to problems as during manufacture, the main cap tunnels are line bored with the caps assembled to the block.
Which means the main caps will only suit the block they are machined to.
Regardless, it's coming along really well Blake!!

quick question, what repair panels did you need? i am 15 now and starting to restore my lc . i need battery tray, floorpans, lower quarters, beaver, boot floors, and a nosecone. i was just wondering if you used any of these repair panels on your torry and how well did they fit up?
cheers keep up the top work there mate

thanks fellas. I didn't come into a lot of money, still an apprentice 4th year vehcle body builder. what I earn, goes into this, everything haha. however the story behind the change of plans was all this running gear was going into a vl Calais I picked up, I was going to mini tub it, put this motor in it, and just cruise it. but on the last day of rego on the vl it got T-boned in the tafe car park by a guy in a magna that slammed on the accelerator instead of the brakes!! the car was turned into a banana unfortunately so I stripped the Calais and made surprisingly good money from the interior and what not from insurance money. the torana was just sitting there and ive always wanted a v8 one so I thought. f*ck it im gonna do the lc with one! and here we are... lol
cheers blake
