No need to cut them, just roll them up. Much cleaner and no sharp edges. I have done it before with my palm pressed hard on the outer edge and just with a hammer slowly tap the lip up. Cant really recommend this method though as it can make a mess if your not careful. Im sure there are better ways to roll the lip up if you do some searching/googling..

I rolled mine with a hammer and dolly with a bit of foam on the dolly to protect the paint... Probably should've rolled the guards BEFORE paint, but luckily I didn't damage the paint at all. If you cut the lip off, the guard will be weakened significantly...

well today the lips were halved so not all of them were taken off and only where necessary took 2 hours and cleaned it up nicely.
i didnt want to roll them up in case i wrecked it and there is some bog peeking through the paint and im dreading whats underneath.
one more thing is even though everyone said not to i really want flares at some stage.

What ratio is the diff?

I'd go an M20 or an MC6, and a 3.36 or 3.55 Salisbury diff. That will make it fun and cost very little.

The paint is neat enough, just do the above, make sure you're happy with the suspension and drive it. Get a good wheel alignment with some caster and camber dialed in if you haven't already.

The wheels look good :)

thanks heaps the diff ratio is 3.9 so very high. i have been on the lookout for the manual gear but none has turned up yet.

picked up a clarion 4 channel amp on friday and went to pick a part in ringwood on saurday.
at pick a part i picked up pedders gas black shocks, lowered springs and a rear spoiler for $115 all up so fairly happy.
the rear spoiler was painted in house paint and in pretty average condition but ill clean it up a bit and it will do for the time being.

spent all yesterday paint stripping and sanding the spoiler back to a useable point and started the filler work today.

heres the link to the car at pick a part http://www.jollysrin... LH 03/74-02/76

3.9 diff is low... High number = low ratio :spoton:

First thing I would do is clean up those hotwires, and paint the blue bits black...

thanks i guess i always thought higher number meant higher ratio, and i quite like the blue in the hotwires so it will stay for now
rear spoiler is partially filled and fitted. also fitted a rubber-less rear bar.
sorry for the crap pics

fitted the springs and shocks in the rear that i got from pick a part and there alot better.

yesterday after work i noticed a noise from the front passegers side suspenion. its a loud banging and clunking when i go over bumps and coming off the brakes.
its also alot worse when reversing from a car park. what could it be?
the front end has new bushes, ball joints and tie rod ends. new disc and brake pads. im stumped and i need this fixed or i wont make the vtc maroondah dam cruise on sunday

Also check that the caster/camber shims haven't fallen out.
