Gearbox is done but it still has a fluid leak so the lines have to be replaced. Will hopefully drive back to melb next weekend and pickup the old sle wheels and a few other bits from my parents if they let me.

Ive done a few more small things.

As im still undecided on the rear spoiler i pulled it off for a while and hopefully ill make up my mind soon as to whether it stays or goes.

Put some bumper overriders on the front
Replaced the divers lower door hinge, it a pian in the arse trying to do it without removing the guard but is possible.
Replaced the console with the hole in it and it now has the original am radio/cassette player back in there
Finally got an ash tray for the back of the centre console

Well the other day a plastic bag blew infont of the car and got stuck around one of the thermo fans shearing it off in the centre.
So now i either have to choose one of two options, fine a replacement thermo or go back to a mechanical fan.

Which is the better option as i have no idea what thermo to get and the local wreckers doesnt either.

So whats better thermo or mechanical?

In my opinion, I'd fit a mechanical. My LJ used a std fan until I fitted the larger balancer which meant that there isn't enough for a fan. The UC that I have has a std engine driven fan.

Ok thanks

For anyone thats interested in going to sell the shell of the gold uc a few pages back asking $350 for it with no panels, diff or motor and gearbox other bits are also missing. Would be a really good donor car or replacement shell as its virtually rust free as shown in pics earlier in the thread.

Yeah i started the rebuild then got kicked out of home and my red one was put off the road as it was registered in my parents name. Then my diff blew just before the new rwc was done so i ended up using a fair few parts off the gold car in my red one.

Ive since moved to albury and have nowhere to store a stripped shell (only have a one car carport in a block of units) so i thought may as well try and sell it and get it out of my parents way.

Next week im also picking up an r31 skyline Ti for $350 and would like to get it registered. All it needs is windscreen, shocks and brake pads. So thought the money could go towards this.

Well ive now got some casual work at bob jane t mart here in albury so i got a balance and alignment, i cant believe how much difference it made to the handling of the car.

Also ripped out the broken thermo fans, long story short, to fit a mechanical fan i needed a new water pump as the bolt holes in mine were too close together so $80 later its got a fan, water pump and pulley to suit haha. Runs more nicely with the mechanical fan too.

I'd just maintain and service it and enjoy being one of not too many people these days having a Torana as a daily drive.

Small update with no pics but i got new tyres and it sits a lot less like a tractor butbeven with smaller tyres they still svrub the guards grrr.

A mate from work is going to help me weld up the rear spoiler holes and all the badge holes soon.

I still need to work out what to do diff wise. I still have no money haha so cant afford much. I picked up an r31 skyline for $300 a few months backand if i can work it out ill try do the diff swap as myate can change the mounts for me so hopefully wouldnt cos a lot and could be done in a weekend.

Im just not sure if capable it or not. No matter where i look i cant find a uc diff near me.

Im also struggling to find the cable clutch manual uc pedals.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Picked up a few bits recently including a disc rear end so ill see how thay goes. I also killed another auto so time for a manual.

It will cost 450 for the box and clutch or 900 fitted. Is the conversion hard or can i do it myself .

Picked up the m20 today. Looks like its in great nic and the clutch is very meaty .

Also fitted a rubberless front bar, its not the straightest bar but its better than the one i had also pulled the badges off the sides of the car still unsure whether or not i want the door protectors or not.

I cant post pics here because i only have my phone but i have put a couple in the gmh-torana facebook page and will probably post a few more as i wo t have a computer anytime soon.

Looks really good Steve. I like what you've done with the front grill and head light surrounds.

Did you get them wheels sitting under the rear guards yet? Would look better a bit lower I think.

Keep it up!

1 owner, I would have trouble cutting the guards and think best left alone

Looks great, love the bright colour

Enjoy driving
