Hawk: how did you go with the rear discs? Last I heard you were looking for handbrake cables.

I've finally got around to fitting mine. Since I don't have the disc handbrake cables I'm planning to use the originals. I need to make a couple of mounting brackets but I don't see any reason it can't work. Will post pics when I'm done.

Looks fat.

GTS style mirrors would set it off.

Prev owner must have taxed them. should have had original from factory. My mates UC SL had drivers side one.

I'm gonna do the same thing with my wheel wells Steve, went down and got a kit which has everything you need for the job. Found it was cheaper in the paint shop than the KBS website and that was before postage was added on.

Painted on some kbs flat black. Still very glossy. The kbs kit cost me $77.

Also finally got another job. Not what I want to do but pays for torana parts haha.

Na no gloves and it stayed on my hands for 3 or 4 days. Used that heavy duty hand cleaner at work today and it came off fine.

Is it possible to not weld the bonnet hinge backing plates back on and leave them as a bolt on part to help avoid rust. Just an idea ive been thinking about

I wouldn't worry too much about the rust coming back in a hurry. If you wanted to avoid rust long-term on a Torana you could re-design the whole bloody car haha. I would weld them back on and lay down that fillet of silicone that was discussed earlier.

Ok cool will do. One more coat of kbs in some spots, then kbs the hinge backing plate and weld it on then the drivers side is done for welding

ok so I have been a bit lazy and busy with my new job. got stuck back into it a bit in the last week. also put in a good day on it today.

got the hinge backing plates cleaned up and kbs'd. well enough to weld them on anyway.

finished the kbs on the drivers side for now, still have to do the back of the hinge plate and the new wiring clips when I make them and weld

them on. so for now the drivers side is done.

sent most of today getting the passengers side ready for kbs, gave it a wash and rust blast. I will put the first coat of paint on tomorrow.

also stuck the 215/65/14 rear tyres back on to fill the guards.

Dont worry I wont give up just have to stay comitted haha. Anyone want to come do all the bog work and sanding for me?

Im tempted to just get it running and in one piece again for a bit then pull it apart and paint it.

Also recommendations on a 5 speed box? Reasonably priced and with a cable clutch setup.

Supra boxes work well behind small V8s hawk and easily setup with a cable. Complete kits pop up on eBay and at swap meets often.
Really impressed with your efforts mate. Keep it up.

Started aome more filler work and its a pain in some of the tight areas. Im still not happy with the inner guards so I might find a better pair to replace them completly. With work with what I have first and see how I go
