Hey Hawk by the sounds of it you might need a break from it mate. I Had a bit of a spell from mine for a month or so. It did the job for me. You just need to set yourself small tasks at a time. Don't look at how much work there is just break it down. Head up mate don't give up we all get a bit stressed with the task at hand. There is light at the end of the tunnel but it might be a fair way yet. So Steady as she goes Captain

From what i gather you have a young family ?
went through the same thing years ago with a car/family,even though we try and "live up" to higher goal it is not always the the case
given circumstances,i eventually thought to myself that the really nice ones are very well done and to be admired as a work of dedication and a credit to the builder, then i thought, given my circumstances and what i wish to achieve will be done by the best of my ability and fuk what anyone else thinks.
don't give up...

I will swap you the job of working on the UC for doing this one ?

not only is it bent/ twisted/rusty with a high carbon metal that needs welding in places, there is also "coach work" that needed doing
and replicated from what was left and "mirror imaged" to fix opposite side material.
an LH/X/UC seems so much nicer?
don't give up never give up,it is admitting defeat.

Hey Steve I'm impressed with the work you've done on this car so far. Maybe as the others have said have a break for a bit till the energy and motivation comes back.

Rebuilding car is not easy, if it was everyone would do it.
Hang in there, if you don't finish it you will kick yourself later

If your filler work sucks then just grind it off and do it again...and repeat until you get it right.
Will take time until you master your craft but once you master it you'll be right forever.
Looking at other peoples threads can be deceiving because it appears like it all happens really quickly and easily. It's rarely the case.
Keep at it. I'm impressed with what you've done so far.

Thanks guys yeah I have a 9 month old son. Its just hard as all I want to do is get in and drive it but at the same time I want it done properly to a good standard.
Yeah kids and family make it hard time and money wise mate but they will also see the dedication you are putting in and will appreciate it nearly as much as you do in the end.
I almost got my missus in the Torrie the other day to take it for rego but then we had fuel leaky issues and she wasn't keen on being in a fireball.
I've been where you are many times, so I hear ya.
You have another car now so don't stress too much, you have things far more important to worry about, the car will still be there tomorrow.

Your frustration post got me though, don't let it get to you that much. I've been at my IP car for 5 years. I have a 10 year old daughter and 7 year old son and family life is pretty busy most of the time. I look back at one of the first posts I did on my IP build thread and I thought it would take me 12 months to get the car in shape for the track. Over 1000 posts later and I'm still going. If you could only see my car in person, my filler work is crap and it would be embarrassing if I was building a road car. I certainly learnt a lot and would approach it differently next time.
I can't wait till the day that I get to drive my car on the track much like you are keen to get out there.
Support is there for what you are doing, just look at the posts above. This is a good bunch of people on here that do care and take an interest is what others are doing.

Had a chat to heath about it the other day and and decided I will probably repatch some areas so there is less filler work

well after having a think I decided that as it wont be a show car and im happy if its relatively tidy. I didn't worry about filler and getting it super smooth. I ended up painting it with the kbs gloss black. im happy with how it looks and will better suit the driving I will do in it.

I think some members have had problems with the KBS changing colour over time though. Can you blow another colour over the top to stabilise it? Can't remember with KBS.

Im not afraid to take the car off road and down dirt tracks. Even had it on some 4wd tracks that wernt too full on so that made me think twice about going overboard with it

Just at the point where I want a nice car that I can actually drive. Was also wanting to buy a house and if that happens I wont have spare money to sink into the car anyway.
Just have to be realistic about it and cut my losses I think. if anyone is interested send me a message. I know its a long shot but chasing 2k with lots of parts or a swap for a regoed v8 of some sort.
Struggling to make a decision still.

to get it done in time I need to
refit the brakes and bleed to get them working
wire up the front lights to the new loom
wire up the wiper motor and and bay looms under the dash
put the motor back together which includes bolting the manifold on and oil pump
Get new cotter pins
Get a manual gearbox, shifter and clutch
Get an exhaust made up
Get radiator and other hoses
Get a battery
and all the other little bits inbetween
Heres a pic as it sits

So if you sell it, it will be able to be driven and stopped? It would be a lot easier to move around if that was the case.
