hose clamps for radiator hoses
heater hoses blanked out for now
fuel line from pump to carb
inlet manifold gasket set
coil wired up
new plugs fitted
new oil filter fitted and oil change
fan belt
fittings in the front of the manifold
Fan bolted On

Not sure what else
What fittings need to be attached to the carb ?
Does the dizzy have vac advance or was that only the 6cyl?
Anything im missing?

Being a UC means this car will need an engineer's certificate with a V8 won't it? Or are you just looking to get it drivable for now?
And having ADR27A means it will need all the pollution gear working too I'm guessing, which will be hard with a two barrel Holley of that vintage. You may need to borrow a standard pollution carby to get it rego'd?
Anyway, if you only need the basics, connect the brake booster hose directly to the intake manifold and the vacuum advance from the distributor to the carby, there should be a vacuum advance port in the side of the metering block (between the fuel bowl and throttle body) above the idle mixture screw.
Then block off any extra vacuum ports. Note that there may well be one in the adapter plate that's hidden under the fuel bowl too if you didn't use that for the booster?

You know of course, it's damn near mandatory to start a new motor without an exhaust hooked up...
I can almost hear the neighbour's windows rattling already!
Don't forget to put oil in the transmission before you start it too or the pump will be running dry.

I have a set of intake manifold gaskets in the shed somewhere that will match your manifold.
I will have a look on Thursday for them.

i drove it 1 block to my exhaust place back then just around the corner,, so so so so awesome..
then the 355 in this build. instant hard on, if only we could drive around like that all the time.
good work mate your all but ready to get her running.

So with the coil is it the yellow wire and condensor to the poitive and the black from the dizzy to the negative?
#794

The condenser is normally inside the distributor and the points wire connects to it before going to the negative side of the coil, you may be looking at a noise suppressor if it's mounted to the coil? If that's the case just leave it disconnected for now, it's not needed for the engine to run.
Pull the high tension coil lead out of the cap and rest it on the manifold with a few mm air gap, then crank the engine and watch for a spark to jump the gap.

also why wouldnt the fuel pump be working
#796
Posted 13 May 2015 - 09:21 PM
Yep the suppressor wire to the positive side of the coil and it earths out through the coil bracket.
With the fuel, if the pump is a bit weak it might have trouble sucking air, you might have to take the hose off at the carby and try drawing the fuel up through the lines yourself to prime the system?
If you're just sucking air then you may have problems elsewhere with a split hose or something?

Its just very crowded at the back of the motor with the coil, vacc lines and dizzy. Havnt even run heater lines yet.

I would try a bit of fuel down the carby mate, or some of that "Start ya Bastard"
If you can get it to kick over a few times and your pump is ok you will have plenty of fuel in no time.
Just be careful that you don't spill too much cause petrol + sparks = flames
