Have had a big think and it wont be ready for the move. Just too much to do and no money. Exhaust wont be done in time and without an exhaust I cant get it running right. Also while I was under it I noticed the box has a few bad leaks. Not to menion rwgo is due on it.

Any chance of cobbling an exhaust together from second-hand bits?

Engine pipes would be the hardest to find but if you've got a MIG or TIG the rest shouldn't be too difficult, any exhaust shops nearby that you can dumpster-dive?

Get the thing to Melbourne and I'll look it over Steve.
My advice is to stop chucking money at it until you figure out the issues.

^^Good advice EunUCh - I have had one of those months on my car, and was ready to pack it away until 2027. A mate stepped in, gave me a hand on the stuff I am trying to do that's way beyond me and it's full steam ahead again! Keep at it Hawk and the offer from LS1 Taxi is pretty cool - (good onya!).

I agree as well, if I was in your shoes Hawk I'd be taking up LS1 Taxi's offer in a heartbeat but if it's to much hassle to get your car there send Daz a PM you may be able to troubleshoot the issues over the phone or pics and video's.

Sometimes it is the little things. Did the points and condenser and off it goes. Not quite right still but enough. Points may need a little more adjusting as with the timing.

Also a big thanks to daz who is trailering it to melbourne for me next weekend.

Sounds good Steve.
Once funds allow I'd recommend tossing that points dizzy and sourcing a hei.
We can talk about that stuff next Saturday.

exhaust is done for now. can hear how the car runs a lot better now.

adjusted the timing more and the idle mixture screws.

either the box, thrust bearing or clutch is a bit noisy. as I take off it kind of feels like the clutch is slipping a bit not sure yet though ill adjust it more soon.

cheers couldn't have done it without everyone heres encouragement and help.

went to a bit of a show and cruise tonight which was good.

starting to make a new list of things it needs:

clutch is slipping so new clutch needed

air cleaner

thrust bearing to be safe

fix the leaks in the box

mount some sort of shifter boot to stop the cold air and noise

wire up the wiper motor and heater fan.

Top job Steve, car is looking good.

The major hurdle is out of the way now, drive the wheels off it and fix the little things as they come along.

Happy motoring young fella.

+1

It looks great with the V8 in there.

I'll see you in the morning mate. It may even be earlier than 11am. I am planning on leaving here early as the weather is supposed to turn to pot later in the day.

Text me your number mate and I'll let you know an ETA once I get the trailer hooked up and underway.
