You would really need to measure them to be sure then. If there is no lip in the top of #1 bore, then you should be OK.

i just cleaned the tops of the pistons and they have std .001 on them does this mean they are standard bore size

what would a rough price be to have the block, pistons, rods and crank cleaned and fitted at an engine builder?
where would i buy new rings and bearings? and how much?

It would appear they are close to stock size pistons. As for the rest of your questions, just follow Ryans advice .

alright today was the first time ive driven the uc in a few days, it was fine the last time i drove it but today i put a full tank in and it started to stall and splutter all the time so i really want to get a new motor in soon but in the mean time id like to fix the problem.
could it be because the petrol tank has run dry twice recently? could it have damaged the fuel pump?
i checked the filter and it was clean and replaced the air filter.
it runs fine at higher speeds but near idle it just dies every few mins

spent the last 2 days working on this.
found that there was a vacuum leak off the carby and the coil and no.5 plug weren't working. shows how much they will put up with as it was still going on 5 cylinders with a coil that was leaking fluid and 2 vacuum leaks. the second one hasn't been found yet but ill have them all replaced soon. And hopefully a better gearbox will be going in this week because the current one slips a bit and has a loud clunk when changing thats getting worse. could the clunk be the diff by any chance?
also put a new exhaust bracket in as one snapped but its still hitting on the diff.

does anyone know where i could get a 350 holley and manifold or twin stromberg manifold for cheap? on ebay most of it is over $150

Have a look at your Commodore Tri-Matic before you pull your old one out. Make sure the shifter is on the same side at the box.

As long as you're aware of the possible difference, that's all that matters.

For safety sake just replace ALL of the rear bushes, as they are all probably as old and worn as each other.

Heard a lot of bad things about the Nolathane bushes from around that time.

Couple of guys put them in, lowered their cars, and when they went to do something a month or so later, bushes in a little pile on the floor, and the cars hadn't even been driven.
