That is a good idea! Does that complicate the oil feed for the turbo though?

That is one nicely made and neat intercooler setup.

With the amount of work thats gone into that cooler i can understand if you are hesitant to paint it black (he-he), fantastic job, huge set up.

Have you worked out what sort of volume you will have on the high pressure intake side (including cooler and pipework)

Heath

The RB30 in patrol have oil and water lines in the block, it's the series 1 vl commodores that don't, unless it was a factory turbo.

Mumstaxi

I haven't worked out the volume, i was more worried about just making it all fit. But i did try and keep the pipe work as short as possible.

In the rear tubs just wanted a bit more room so cut the rail out to put a dog leg in it.

Posted Image

Made the dog leg out of two pieces then welded down the centre.

Weld in place.

You can see how this will give the tyres a bit more room, no point moving it more because it is level with the front of the tub.

i love the chassis kit and dogleg mod, what size RHS did you use? also how much for a pair of the dog legs? they would be a large market for these mate!

I'm a sheetmetal worker by trade, which helps out a bit playing with cars. But it's all just steel.

Awesome build turbo76lx. Your metal work is excellent. I love sleepers, I hope you keep it looking the way it does. Maybe a bit of black flyscreen behind the grill to darken the 'cooler up a bit : )

My preference is for manual gearboxes, as there's not much interest in driving an auto, but something tells me you'll have your hands full just the way it is

Oh, and 76lxhatch, That comment you made about the Jack bottle, I think that one on the end is fine, he just needs to replace the other 11 with ones like that one :spoton:

That makes sense, your work is very neat.

@milco@

The RHS is 89x89x3.5mm it's a very tight fit over the rail. The rail needed a bit of a tap with a big hammer to make it fit.
The RHS on the upper to lower trailing arm mounts is 50x25x2mm. As for the doglegs i don't think many people would want them
because of the amount of extra work they create, custom exhaust, fuel tank.

This is how is looked off the car.

How do you go for rego with the modified chassis section (dog leg) I thought these days that was a big no no when it came to getting it engineered and legal?

I envy your fab skills, that cooler and pipes are artwork.

in nsw you cant touch the chassis rail before the axle.they wont rego the car and the rta will mark it as a stat write off if they find it.

this doesnt apply to other states though
