When I bought the hustlers a mate asked if the 5.5 black Torana rims were for sale.
I said no as the hustlers have no tyres and these were the only wheels I had.
Nag, nag, nag, bitch, winge, winge and I'll give you my cheese cutters he says.
So...............
He comes over with the cheese cutters and while it was on the jack stands to swap, I took the exhaust off.
This is how things come about on this build. (See the bit about the motor coming out)
Next I will strip the selected engine and get it chemically cleaned.
Hopefully within the next week or 7.
To be honest?
This all took place 3 or 4 weeks ago.

THE UP LATE UPDATE!
I took this off, now I'm exhausted.
I've also swapped a set of cheese cutters for those daggy black rims.
And ordered a set of number plates
Ah you're very funny. Thats a good one

The 3 guys who built the stretch EH limo started that way - at the pub one night they came up with the idea, from there they ordered "EHLIMO" plates, and then proceeded to actually build the car.
Deb and I purchased a certain set of custom plates a couple of years ago, for a future project car that we don't own yet... one day it might happen! But for now, the plates are tucked away, and they won't be unveiled until they're on the car...
Keep the pics coming rodomo

The body is reasonable. The white is hiding a lot. Rust in boot, lower quarters, front and rear windscreen frames, drivers floor pan and drivers sill under the scuff plate.Nice car Rodomo 2dr and the body looks like it's in realy good shape to.
It's had a nudge in the front too. Have a look at the pics on pg.2 post #32. You will see between the front parkers there is a piece of light angle iron holding the front together. You can see the back of it in the second pic too.
Drivers side front guard is very ordinary and might have to be replaced. L/H sill is dented and might also have to be replaced.
There is some hail damage too.
The plates I have ordered are black and white standard issue. They have more of a historic value. More later, there is a story.Get a nice set of custom plates, then build a car up to suit them.

Hopefully within the next week or 7.
Going ahead in leaps and bounds! A whole month ahead of schedule!
Stripped the "selected" motor today. It's the one from this thread:
http://www.gmh-torana.com.au/forums/index.php?showtopic=34071&hl=date code&st=0
.080" up, .010" under red crank, and I'm going to get .035" decked of it.
Possibly the lightest 202 on the planet?
A WHOPPING 210 CUBES!!!!!!
I chose this one as it is a recent reco, very clean. I'll just wipe it's bum and put it in.
The cam was stuffed and the headgasket was on backwards. A hone, new rings and bearings will do it.
But wait..................
There's more..............
The new plates turned up too!

Finally, after much research (6 months or more) and too much expence , here are my number plates!
Why are they significant?

I've done some work lately.
Took all the accumulated parts out of the interior and stored them in the roof of the shed.
Swept the floor pans, now I can get the wire brush to them and see what I'm up against.
And also look into A/C?
But wait..............there's more............
The engine bits made it from the shed floor to the back of the Rangie!
Who knows? They might even make it to the engine builder soon?
Leaps and bounds! Leaps and bounds!

All those bits are now back on the shed floor because they didn't get to the engine builder before the last Grease Slapper race day....................Happy?
And shit has happened................

Bought this head off e-bay $31.00.
The story goes it was on a reco motor fitted to a WB. The engine ran a bearing at less than 10,000klms. He took the car back to the mechanic and the engine supplier agreed to send a short motor.
A long motor turned up and the bloke was given this head back with the car. You can see that it's clean, the rockers are spotless and the bloke was a fair dinkum kinda bloke.
I'll wipe it's bum, vac test the valves and have it shaved. It's an open chamber head. It'll probably get the Holley and manifold off the Grease Slapper and the old extractors initially.
It has no air pump holes and although it has the bosses for the A/C compressor mount, they are not drilled and tapped.
Next, these headlights, 2 for $20.50.
They are from an '86 Range Rover, H4, Lucas brand, with a curved glass. Not as curved as a sealed beam but certainly not flat like most.
I've mounted one to the LJ tub and they fitted without modification.
