Decided to start the next project while my hatch is getting tuned. I brought a lx sedan off my neighbour for $200 back in 2007, originaly just brought for parts.

But after having a better look at it i found the only rust was behind the bonnet hinges. The main problem is that someone took to it with an iron bar smashing a

few windows kicking in two doors and putting a couple of dints in the roof and boot. The plan is to use the spare parts the i have laying around do the body and

paint myself and just build a cheap daily driver.

It did have a 173 and trimatic but that only took a few hours to pull out.

Going to use an aussie 4 speed and dellow bell housing and have a spare 9" to suit torana but need to rebuild the centre and get new axles.

No rust in the floor.

Over the weekend also dropped in a dummy block with spare heads and gearbox to see how it all sits, using HQ engine mounts.

Looks like i will have to modify the air box for the fuel rail.

If you use a VN fuel rail instead of the VR-VS one you dont have to mod the heater box although it help.
Do the HQ mounts move the motor closer to the firewall or away from it.

Dissy is a pain regardless of engine mounts as the injected manifold is taller then the old carb one.
Im using torana mounts and its a very tight fit.
You will have to trim the drain channel in the firewall if dissy is to be a removeable item.

Hi guys

I knew about the fuel rail hitting the air box, it's just one of the many thing i have to deal with. I have both VN and VS fuel rails, i see 3 options.

1. Cut and modify the air box, which is what i done on the RB30 conversion.

2. Cut the fuel rail back and weld on -6AN fitting.

3. Or make custom mounts to move the motor foward.

Not sure which way i will go yet.

As for getting to the dissy i may just cut up the manifold like i did on my van which gave me better access.

The steering column was a bit second hand, i think someone took to it with a pair of vice grips.

Rebuild time. Using a HZ column for parts so i will have wipers on the column and also wire in intermittent wipers.

Had a small piece broken out of the steering lock bit, so a bit of weld a quick file and some paint, just like new. Also made a new shroud out of

some 4" stainless steel tube. I am tired of repairing plastic ones.

Hi guys the shroud did come up better than i thought. I just made this one because i have snapped the little lugs off the plastic ones in the past,

and because i am to tight to buy a new one.

As for making more i may look into in the future but would only do it if i had some spare time, because i'm not into it for the money just for the love of it.

I see the prices some people get charged for things to be made or modified and could not justify charging that. Most of the car related jobs i do are for mates

in trade for a favour or a trade for parts. These photos are a job i did for a friend of a friend.

I cut out and removed an A9X transmission tunnel blister and refitted a standard tunnel and filled in a hole in the boot floor all in trade for a door and front

and rear bumpers for this current project. Always scary taking to someone car with an angle grinder, hope he doesn't mind if i post some photos.

Think i might make some custom engine mounts to move the motor forward about 15mm so i wont have to modify the drip rail on the fire wall and air box.

Also make it easier to get to the dissy.

Had a play with the clutch today, using a dellow turbo patern to aussie 4speed with cable clutch. The dellow bell housing has the pivot ball set back

about 25mm compared to the standed holden one. The easy fix was to make a new pivot, used a 19mm ball bearing and welded it on to a 1/2" UNC bolt.

The two bell housings, the left is standard holden the right dellow, both cable type.
