Thanks for that.
I have "repaired" a few locks, though only damaged ones and all I did was threw out the offending bent/worn plate/s.

Got keen/ bored today so pulled out the motor, if anyone is interested the measusrment from the fire wall above the "lip" to the back of the motor is 78mm with the modified mounts.

Also put the car up on the rotator, the best thing i ever made.

I know it's over kill with 75mm bearings and a 100/1 gearbox but it makes life easier.

Found something i didn't want the other day when i took the sump off, rust over the crank, rods and in 2 cylinders. I knew when i

brought this motor for $700 it was to good to be true. So pulled the heads off and cam out, thankfully ok and draged out a old 308

that only needed rings and bearings, after a quick (cheap) rebuild now have a motor ready to go.

Today relocated the shock mounts on the diff using the brackets of a VN diff, now i will use HQ rear shockers and will give enough

room for a VN rear brake conversion.

Started on the rust behind the bonnet hinges, the only way to fix it is cut it all out.

IMGP0772_resize.jpgAttached File  IMGP0772_resize.JPG   151.21K   3 downloads

Had to cut more than i thought. Before i cut it all out i scribed a line through the centre of the hinge holes and took some measurements.

IMGP0773_resize.jpgAttached File  IMGP0773_resize.JPG   168.85K   2 downloads

Clamped some sheet behind the hole and made a scribe mark then cut it out. You can see the scribe line between the 2 black arrows for the bonnet hinge holes.

IMGP0775_resize.jpgAttached File  IMGP0775_resize.JPG   158.09K   2 downloads

Tacked in the new piece and marked the hinge holes and a quick hammer. This is as far as i get because i ran out of gas for the tig.

Yes the rust was nasty but the rest of the car is rust free.

Decided to give the back tyres a bit more room, cut out a small section at the rear of the tub and moved it into the rail.

I did have to stop myself from cutting the entire wheel tub out and starting from scratch, but it's only going to be a daily driver.

IMGP0783_resize.jpgAttached File  IMGP0783_resize.JPG   168.9K   8 downloads

Now can just fit a 265 tyre but still needs some more work.

such a simple little mod for such a big benifit, will be interesting to see how they sit with the diff and shocks all in place, the 265's do look really good under there, might be one i will have to copy of ya Posted Image with my old LX i was running 245's and used to get a bit of tyre rub on the shock if i hooked into a corner pretty hard Posted Image good work by the way Posted Image

All the suspension parts are now painted, no room to store then in the shed so put them in the spare room.

IMGP0801_resize.jpgAttached File  IMGP0801_resize.JPG   144.46K   0 downloads

Also painted under the car with KBS chassis paint, used gloss black but might put some satin black over it, just a bit to shiny.

Great work!

I also like the gloss black, maybe just used black tar, stone protector in the wheel areas to protect the paint.

You should mark up plans of the "rotator" as it looks so handy, maybe make up "rotator" kits and sell them but with a source your own jacks and gearbox option.

Haven't been to motivated but have rebuilt the front end, all new bushes and ball joints. The front brakes are HQ discs and a mix of HX PBR and LX PBR calipers also rebuilt.

Had to lip the upper control arm to clear the caliper same as what i done to my hatch front end.

IMGP0844_resize.jpgAttached File  IMGP0844_resize.JPG   149.06K   0 downloads

Motor and gearbox also ready to go. Now need to find some more motivation to start the body work.

Been busy over the weekend taken most of the shell back to bare metal, what a fun job that is.

At least i didn't find to many surprises just a few small rust spots around the front windscreen and

above the LH rear wheel arch.
