Thanks fellas :) The tank i originally got off this forum - 2nd hand.. when I got it delivered.. it was alot worse than i anticiapated.. so I took it to weldrite, which is in invermay - Launceston. Turns out the tank I brought was to suit a SS hatch.. so they have re-made the whole thing pretty much!! The painter said he will have it for a month or 2.. hopefully I will have it to him within the next few weeks :) Cant wait!!

Well the 253 is all electrically and mechanically hooked up now.. and straight out of the extractors... aawwww thats a lovely sound!!
I've hooked up and installed the new T bar auto.. and got the flares bolted on. Was speaking to the fella that is painting it yesterday.. I will be taking it there in 3 weeks or so :) Next thing to do.. put the bonnet back on, and mount the new bonnet scoop.. and then start stripping everything down for the paint job!!

As you can see, I still have to trim the spolier back..

I havent ran the rubber stripping around yet.. not much point considering their coming back off again in a few days!! But overall, I think that the flares are a bloody good copy/mould.. they seem to fit bloody brilliant!!

Next update time.. Once we got the torana to the spray painter, his sharp eye detected a tiny piece of rust (approx 5mmx5mm, in the rear quater panel. Apart from he cant find any!!!! I'll be helping him with the process, and should be done in a month or so :)

I picked up the drop tank.. just needs a good polish, but it looks a treat under the car!!

Things are coming along very nicely!! Steve found a little bit of rust in the left rear quarter panel (down the bottom).. he cut that out, and fixed it all up. Apart from that, theres no other rust to be found!! :) The doors (which were quite bad) have come up a treat.. the bonnet and roof (which had numerous marks/dents) also came up really well. He is planning on putting the black on t'row, and tomorrow night i have to head to the paint shop and decide which red im going. should be back home in 3 weeks :)

Bit more tidying up to be done yet..

You've made some good progress with this. Are you gunna cut the guards?

Thanks mate :) Im hoping not too.. i reckon i'll look at getting some small coil spacers or something - and see how it goes then for clearance. Obviously i dont want to have the vehicle to high (would look silly), but i definatly do not want to chop the guards!!

CHOP CHOP CHOP!! You won't regret doing it when you have a set of 15x10's filling the guards!

I agree! I can hear the sweet sound of a grinder coming up :)

Flared Tozza's don't look right without fatties filling out the flares, and to do this whilst keeping a decent looking ride-height (ie. not the 4WD look) that won't scrub, requires cutting unfortunately. Just depends what stance you are happy with.

The car is coming along great though, can't wait to see colour.

hehehe, still not convinced yet!! ;) I have sourced a set of 14x8 hotwires of a fellow forum member.. with 265 and 235 tires on them... (thanks for holding them mate!!). They will be on it for now.. and by the sounds of it they will scrub. I'll try small coil spacers at first and see how it looks :)
Anyways, I ended up choosing a hyundai red.. think its called passion red? On the google searches, it looks heaps darker than what it was on the sample card in the paint shop.. the real colour (hopefully!!) is a real bright deep red.. looked great up against the gloss black sample card!! :)

Sorry for being rude, but seriously what is the point in having flares if you don't cut the shit out of the guards and fill the space with tyres? That's like putting four piston calipers on a car and hooking it up to use two pistons.

Apart from the flare situation, the progress looks good. The shell looks like it's in great condition.

This may actually surprise you Heath.... but you can fit decent size rubber under a flare without hacking the rear guards to bits!

It's not so easy at the front though!

The guards will be filled with rubber.. its just how i get to that stage i'm not sure of yet!! If i really have to, i will cut the guards.. but only at a last resort!!

Went there again yesterday to see how things are progressing.. and bugga me dead its almost done!! Still has to paint the side seal black (between the front and rear wheels, along the bottom). The bonnet, scoop etc is all black, inside the doors etc is all done.. and it looks like a beautiful job!! At this stage im unsure about the colour though.. when i took these photos there was no lights on, and it was a cloudy horrible day.. plus considering theres no other accessories etc on it yet, it was decieving. However, the colour appears to be different than the one i chose at the paint shop.. this colour looks more orange?? I hope not!!
