I like that LC fronted HB too. That was how the design study for the LC started anyway.

Saw this rusting away in country SA.
As you can see HB1200 thought he died and went to heaven....
I would imagine that not too many people would have seen one of these.
This is how the car was released - Not cut and shut.
Cheers

Now most of the 600 or so shots i have from the torana nats are no more :(
Oh well.
I like the LB (yellow LC/HB), and the blue LX pickup with the red rims is very much my style, naturally along with the blue two door/four door lx/uc with the frOckING MASSIVE big block being lowered into the bay, how could that not be something i would like to do......
Cheers.

Sorry to Necro the thread but it just popped up on my facebook feed.
Does anyone remember a convertible LC/LJ that Strathfield Car Audio owned? I'm starting to wonder if they built it or maybe bought it. It looks a lot like the white one at the top of this thread.
Anyway, I'm looking for any information anyone has about it, especially any pictures of it in its prime. This is it now.

^ Was it the one built by W.S. Grice at Summer Hill?
It pops up here every now and then; was for sale on ebay last year, possibly headed for Qld iirc.

Nah. I've seen pics of that one before but I've owned this as it is in the picture for nearly 20 years now. Only just starting to fix it up.

In the 80's there was a trend to turn cars into convertibles; cheaper than importing 'verts I guess. I seem to recall it started with VW beetles, when that trend took off then every car was fair game, usually 2 doors; I recall seeing quite a few Valiants chopped up as they had that American yank-tank look.

Yeh, I think this was purpose built for Strathfield Car Audio. It has no reinforcing to the chassis, so I'm pretty sure it was never driven after the conversion. It is also an LJ that has been changed to look like an LC. The nose cone and radiator support are from an LC (it still has the LC tags on the radiator support) and it is pretty obvious where it was changed. Like it was never meant to be seen with the bonnet open. Also the whole panel behind the rear seat, as well as most of the parcel shelf has been cut out to fit a massive sub box.
