Hey fellas, just after some original-restored LC XU1 Engine Bay pics so that i can get an idea on what mine should look like under the bonnet. this can help me recognise little bits of information and detailed: clips, carbys, engine bay colour, and engine detail.

Cheers Blakey

In this picture of the road test car from Nov 1970 Modern Motor, you can see a spring running from the utilux clamp around the heater hoses to the heater. With the re-routing of the brake vacuum hose in 1971, and the resulting zip-tying of the hoses with the choke block, did this spring get deleted or was it still used? (Apologies for the pic being sideways, but the upload program keeps rotating it).

hi fallars,
the spring your talking about was always there, it stopped the heater hoses from sitting on-top of number three throttle linkage and makeing the throttle stick on.

tbm- the choke cables made the change with the 71 bathurst car.

blakey i have more pics, but i need to upload to photobucket first, and its a pita.

cheers roger, nothing like some pics to get people motivated.

cheers john

mate i use satin black, manly because i paint in 2pac, but with acrilic the best i find is 04149 it already has a flattning base in it but i would reconmend you ask your paint supplier to add an extra 10%,,,

I've woundered this as well.I have seen alot of springs that are like a lite grey colour but when sandblasting mine back the last coat of paint to come off was Black.I also noticed in the Gregorys LC/LJ repair book on page 180 it also shows a pic of the bonnet hinge and the spring is black in that to. :dontknow:

Hi

I don't think that you can go far wrong painting the bonnet springs "Machinery Grey".

Cheers

Is the spring used on the heater hoses, the same spring that is attached to the front brake hoses on the LJ?

i have never needed to buy them mate, so i can say.just take a brake line holder to a spring shop somewhere and ask for something abit longer, or just use a brake line hold spring.

Does anyone know what size or part numbered the utilux clamp is, that holds the 2 heater hoses together and is located to the spring mounted on the heaterbox?
