I am having a problem in which coolant is getting into the oil. I have tracked this down to the intake manifold not sealing as it should. What sealant should i use? One of the parts places here have suggested Permatex Ultra Grey.

What do you guys rekon?

I assume you mean a V8 I would be looking for corrosion or check and see if the manifold sits flat and lines up with the heads if the block and heads have been machined at some stage, shoudn't have too much trouble sealing them with No.3 compound.
I would not be using silicone near the intake.

Sorry, yes it is a 253. There is definately corrosion happening on the manifold but not a huge amount. This head and manifold combination has always been on this engine and was not leaking before. The only thing I can think of is that when I had the intake blasted clean, it must have warped slightly but only in the rear passenger corner (that is the only place it leaks. I made sure they did not blast the bottom of it though.

Have used Permatex Blue before.
Best sealer I used though was Wurth Red.
Have even used Wurth instead of valley gaskets for a perfect seal.
There are some that wouldnt recommend this though.

Sorry for the late reply, Why did you say that you would never have silicone near the intake Terra?

Using it around the inlet ports, it leaks.

i agree sillicone no good remember the fuel contamination that destroyed so many engines that was sillicone in the fuel. normal silastic will do the job i work for toyota as a mechanic and we use toyota's black sealant which is really good and would certainly do the job otherwise i beleive holden actually have a sealant which comes in a little can which is supposed to be good we have used it sometimes if im write the old holden v6's used to leak at the valley gasket and where a real pain to reseal u have to use sealant as well as the gasket and also on the bolts as it use to leak out the bolts as well.
