QTCC @ Bowdens......

On Sunday the QTCC did an extensive tour of the Bowdens Collection. We were treated to an absolute fest of Australian motor racing history as well as being privy to eyeballing some classic Euro machinery. The quality of the cars is awesome but what really makes the day is Dan's commentary along the way. He sure knows his stuff and the stories about how the cars were acquired are as interesting as the history behind the cars themselves. If anyone ever gets the chance to do a tour of the collection, take up the opportunity as you will not be disappointed.
Aside from the Torana's the highlight of my day was the seeing the JPS BMW and the spare car. This car was my "hero" car as a kid (my folks were right into BMW's and had a 635 csi among the several they had). The story behind how the Bowdens accquired the car was just as good as seeing the black beauty in flesh. In fact, with every car in the collection there is an interesting tale to be told and I hope that one day the Bowdens put this on DVD or in a book as it makes for great bench racing.
Of course the most moving story relates to the 79 A9X and Peter Brocks last drive of it and although I didnt scan the folk in attendance, Im sure there were a few watery eyes.
Anyway, have a gander at the pics and if you happen to chance upon this post Dan, once again THANK YOU !!

I've met Dan a few times at race meetings and he is a really good easy going guy who always has a story. Must get to that tour one day.
I remember those BMW's for a different reason - when they both beached themselves at turn one Bathurst.

No disrepect to Dan he does know his stuff and his stories are well told but when his dad Dave gets going he is the master story teller, he was good mates with the head guys at Ford and had all the right conections back in the day, and no doubt still does
thanks for posting Big T
