Exhaust turn-downs? Dumped before the diff

Obviously the risk with exhaust systems that are dumped before the diff is that they echo through the diff tunnel and under the car etc. So I want to keep that to a minimum basically. ATM the sound isn't too bad at all, it drones a little at low RPM (say 1500-2000ish) but not nearly as badly as I expected, and everywhere else in the rev range sounds fine.
I'd like to know what people thought (roughly) the best departure angle for that kinda thing is. Doesn't matter if it's a V8 or a six, as long as it is before the diff, because after then, predictably the effects will be much less noticeable. As systems that end before the diff are coming into fashion nowadays, I thought a fair few people may have mucked around with setups like that & might have some advice

I don't get hassled by cops, and my car was pretty quiet before (don't have a solid cammed 12:1 CR V8 that I need to shut up) so I thought I'd try it out without the tailpipe.

Bomber if you have a good way of making a side exit exhaust with proper mufflers that doesn't hang on the ground I'd love to know more, I haven't figured out how to get around the lower arms...

I think the sound waves hit the ground, reflect back up and reflect off the floor pan and repeat.
Definitely was louder, had more drone and was all around a PITA.
Especially if driving on dirt when you would sit up a big cloud just revving the car a bit!
My honest opinion would be to run a proper exhaust out the back with a nice set of extractors, 2.25" pipe and the right muffler.
My 202 had this system ( Hurricane Headers, 2.25" system and i *THINK* it was a redback muffler) and it sounded GREAT (in my opinion!) With the baby cam it was mistaken for a 253 ALL the time, was reasonably quiet at low revs (nice burble at idle), but when you stood it it just HOWLED!
That's my recommendation anyway!

Get a proper exhaust exiting as per the rules or be happy to fall "asleep" from CO toxicity.

I did this with mine because the pipes over the diff were hitting on the diff over bumps. I liked my 2.5" out the back, and I like being able to check out the exhaust gas and watch it puffing out on cold mornings ( I love a V8 in tha mornin! ).
But to stop the diff hitting the exhaust (cause i got a 9" and the pipes are orginal replacement 2.5"), I made 2 dump pipe bits, one off each muffler (dual 2.5"). I dont really like the idea because of the dust it can potentially blow up, so I angled mine to point just under the diff so its on small angle, not dumping straight down.
It made mine sound heaps deeper, bit louder and tuffer and maybe gave mine a little more HP. I think its pretty awesome now, it was good before. It is a 383 chev all the same lol.
