#6 combustion chamber (note the piston melted to the plug and the rest of the surface)
#1 combustion chamber
and where it popped the head gasket
It just seems a bit weird though, I think it popped the head gasket first as it was blowing a shitload of white smoke, temp wasnt THAT bad, run one more lap, then come in, and in that time it must have been enough to melt the holes in the pistons.
Was running 10.5:1 compression, about 8 degrees initial advance, WW 2 barrell running resonably rich,
So who wants to play guess what happened?

It was running fine for the first 4 laps, pulling hard, then bit of white smoke, Ive thought headgasket (was running hot) and after another slow lap and into the pit lane she was toast.

oil in cylinder?
pistons in the sump
they go hardest just before they let go
time for a run down the tip for a replacement m8t
can you still run avgas over there?

The only other issue we might have is getting the stromberg (WW 2 barrel) to push through enough fuel to keep up with the added demands of E85.
Im guessing we'd need to upgrade the full fuel system to cope?

looking at going to E85, its still got to run on a unleaded variant to fit the rules (not that the other assholes stick to them either)

i know of a bloke who has done variajets and single barrel strommies (was and international truck motor one) no diff just a fr0ckload bigger.
so yes it can be done. needle and seat wont flow enough though im betting.
