Guys

What specification is a very late 5/72 XU-1? I mean in terms of homolgation evolution. It would have been finished just before the V8 XU-1 was killed. I assume steel rims with spacers? Standard 1972 ie original spec 202 XU-1 engine?

In terms of homologation evolution there were only 2 up till August 1972. (3/3V Track Nibless & 1/1V Detroit Locker) These 400 cars which had ADR,s of 3/72, 4/72, 5/72, 6/72 & 7/72 were basically identical units though may of had 3 wheel spacers fitted to the front rather than 2. No detroit lockers were ever fitted in production that i am aware of......

How many cars should have had the Detroit Lockers to fulfil 1/1V homologation requirements? Was it only 20, or 50 or more?

There is nothing specific in the cams rules in reguards to detroit lockers only diff ratios (100 cars per ratio) So one would assume that only 200 basically identical units were required to allow the race teams the use of a detroit locker. The wording in homologation 1/1V made sure of this (ie equipped at random) If any i suppose 50% or 100 cars. According to Harry Firth and the importer of the detroit lockers they did,nt reach Australia till January 1973 anyhow..........
