for starters i like the colour.

but as for choices you have 3 paths to follow.

1. you are restoring/rebuilding to original - Dublin
2. you are building an xu1 tribute/replica - any original colour you like
3. its an all out custom/street car just for your enjoyment - any colour you like.

my thoughts only

PICS !

Hi

Until the mystical GMH document that is purported to provide all the colour and trim data for the LC and LJs surfaces , we can only go by statistics. Extrapolating the data that I have, suggests that about 70 Dublin Green Met XU-1s would have been produced.

I would repaint in the original colour - that's part of the charm of restos. It is not surprising that some brighter colours were more popular, after all, XU-1 were produced to race and marketed to the younger generation. Dublin Green Met was by no means the least popular colour.

Cheers

If you do repaint in Dublin make sure whoever is mixing the paint knows what they are doing as I have seen a number of Dublin Green repaints that are not even close to the original colour. There was a guy from SA that had a really nicely restored Dublin Green 72 XU-1 at Bathurst a few years ago and whilst talking to him I commented on how it was the only Dublin Green car there that was the right colour and he told me that he had to have the colour matched from inside the bootlid where it was still fresh to get the correct colour. I think a lot of people don't like Dublin because most of the repaints are way too dark and look more like Juniper than Dublin.

Start a thread in the register if you like.

Thanks for the kind words! I remember Bathurst fondly, I have been told many times that my colour is wrong and that it should be much darker. I agree go with orginality!!

Yeah it was a good weekend and I remember your car well, it was one of the few that stood out amongst all the cars that were there.
