OK, I am after "YOUR" explanation or experience why you ( personally ) think that a holden engine is better than a ford engine. I ask this question as ,as you GMH guys think that holden made a far superior engine than ford did.
In asking the question, i don't wont to hear from the hear say guys or the text book wanna be's, i want to hear your experience. You can tell me that the A9x won more races than the GT HO, they had more 1,2 finishes than ford etc, don't care. Me personally, couldn't give a rats ass about the rivalry ,FORD v HOLDEN.

Look forward to reading the educated opinions.

No flame suit required, that's for the sooks.

I never really got into the whole Ford vs Holden thing, i like them both equally.

It really pisses me off at work because even though i like both all the "Ford" supporters (most of which drive kias) just sit there and bag out my Toranas, for no reason other then i own them, its just rubbish.

I got a CHEBBY for my LH....Cause i dont have much interest in Holden v8's personally.

I think the Ford 8 is better than the Holden one, but nothing is better than a Chev :P

Cheers.

It's not the engine that made the GMH products better, it was the total package, the race teams (including drivers) and the funding. No GMH V8 ever really raced against a GT-HO anyway, it was Chev engines and Holden sixes. The Ford Cleveland race engines were pretty awesome things once sorted, it was the cars that let them down (weight, tyres, brakes etc) and sometimes the drivers. Also (tongue in cheek) the last Holdens competitively raced in series production and Group C were the HT's in 1969. There was a small amount of Holdens raced after that (like the 4 door GTS in 1972/3) but from 1970 the Torana and Commodore became the weapons of choice.

Hey bullitljv8, Been on a few forums looking and reading, the same ol' argument Holden v ford. One bloke will say Holden is better cause dizzy at the back, ford bloke say wouldn't have a Holden block for a boat anchor.
I have noticed on this forum a few members share the same mentality.

Just putting the question out there !

There is no right or wrong reason why one is superior than the other.(my opinion only)

OK, i personally prefer HQ headed 308s because nothing sounds like them at WOT.
there a very quick reving motor, geared rightly there hard to beat on the street.

351 clevos are boring around town, they need wide open country roads (if theres any left) to wind up to there potontial

i like stovehot 289 windsors there cool as a street motor

327 small journal chevs beat the lot as a street motor, built right they rev big, 8000rpm

so you can see i prefer revvers over torquers,

Right you are, i would have a 327 small journal engine any-day (pick of the small block chevs)
What makes a HQ head better than say a HDT "B"cast head. Is it better cross sectional area, better short turn radius.
Cleveland heads are a better head(due to cantered valve design) but choked big time low revs due to the design of the exhaust port .
289 windsor , under-rated engine !

I was gonna say it's hard to beat the sound of a Holden V8 but a Ford V8 sounds pretty damn awesome too. Not like those lousy smallblock Chevs

I love Holdens but am not completely one-eyed about it. I love a screaming 308/355
but also think a Clevo sounds great. Not sure if I could own a Ford though...
It's as if I feel a certain loyalty to Holden because of all the stuff my Grandpa told me as a kid !
Either way I think nothing beats the note on some of these Carbied V8s.
