Had another great day out yesterday with a good bunch of guys&gals and saw some really tough cars perform well..most of my clan ran fairly well and some even surprised themselves with there ability..my yellow L34 wasn't on the pace although i managed one strong 11.6 pass at 117 miles but become weary of the clutch slipping..i think it didn't want to play the game anymore..(poor baby yella i think it wants retirement)...car was generally strong but a few driving errors from me missing gears also didn't help its cause..all in all a very enjoyable day for me and my friends....how tough was my friends BUICK GS stage1 455 now that's genuine yankee factory muscle car with father&son at the wheel..one the highlights for me was watching my good friend Frank pap and his son Andrew go at it all day..the barbados green SLR5000 had only just been completed with full restoration a couple of weeks ago, they had A absolute ball trying to out do each other with the father claiming victory..

anyway thanks again to Tiny & Simone for a fun day out to all the competitors who make the day what it was..

Well done Mitch, you "put the Munro on the trailer". All good fun.

Agree with Keith, the "DUD" was tough.

I love seeing these posts!

The main thing is, Everyone had fun! That's what the day was about!!

As mentioned above Matt Gillespi in the "DUD 308" (yeah RIGHT! What a weapon!!) one tonner took out the first place in the Dial Your Own bracket racing we had, with Mitch JUST breaking out!! A massive congratulations to Rob in the SShatchback as he had some problems last year, and to crack off consecutive passes to get 3rd in the DYO is a massive credit to him and his car!

I really enjoyed the ONE pass i got *Grumbles*.... I was never going to beat mitch, but i tell ya.. the thrill of the chase chasing someone down the 1/4 mile to try and win is a rush!!
And the DYO style racing is just a lot of fun!

I think i'll be doing that again next time for more giggles!

I've really got to say thanks to those who travelled for the day, Especially MRLXSS who came from Victoria to come and watch, ASS308 Newcastle, All the guys from Wollongong, the southern highlands and right out to Bathurst... It really shows the commitment and camaraderie that this forum has to offer!

Now that i've been well and truly handed my ass by a "big block" V6 I think it high time to get the monaro in order....
I've blown an exhaust manifold gasket (Rattled a bolt out and couldnt hear it over the open pipes! hehehe!)
So i'm planning on a bit of an upgrade in pipes and a bit of a tune and freshen up on the dyno to see if we can squeeze a bit more out of this combo....
I think we'll be at a few wednesday night meets soon hopefully!

I also need to get some practice at DYO racing and dialing in, and might have to try a bit harder on my Reaction time..... I thought a .006 RT against mitch might have helped But NOOOooOOoOOooo.... :spoton:

So once again thanks to everyone who came out, I'm really glad it was a success and the weather held off, and thanks also to the WSID staff who were pretty good in helping us out all day!

Cheers

Had a top day too. Thanks to Tiny for organising it!!

Also thanks to Wayne (2ELCS) for helping out and the funny jokes all day :).

Was great to meet Matt (MRLXSS) and his mate from melb. great committment to travel up over night and run off mother all day saturday.

What happened to the nice LJ with the 500Hp 308 who had a fire or something and had t get trailered home, that car was very nice, what a bummer for the owner.

^ Oh yes!!! I was meaning to ask that!!

I hope it was nothing serious, I did see some fluid on the ground and some small flames! Hope it was nothing serious!

The Orange LJ blew 3rd gear in the "traumatic". The fire was a result of the tranny fluid hitting the pipes. The owner is pretty cool about it.
The car ran a best of 11.1 @ 120mph ( not bad for a car with full exhaust, air cleaner and street slicks ).

This car should run high 10.

Bit bitter aye Rob :P Its alright mate, I saw your reaction time and was very impressed. All i could see in my rear view mirror was this big shiny coupe chasing me down, and the fact you had no pipes, I could feel the ground shaking as you came closer.

We are definately keen for a Wednesday night. Dad really wants to see how far into the 11s he can get, and I want a 14!

Thanks Tiny for a great day !!

Sorry I didn't introduce myself to everyone but I did get around to see a few familiar faces and checked out all the cars.

Matt, I didn't realize the silver/primered SL/R was yours. Last I heard you had a bad vibration and wasn't going to show up. By the way I love the well worn look, it proves the car is genuine ! Seemed to go OK !

Lee, everytime I came up to say Hi you were busy so I didn't bother you. So what was the performance increase with the new heads ?

Tiny, your car sounds insane without the pipes !! What cam have you got in it now ?

Wayne (2ELCS) thanks for coming up and making yourself known.

ASS308, nice car ! Did the starter send you down the track at one stage while there was a Blue LC/J in the braking area ??

Studricho, thanks for the contact details on your windscreen fitter.

To everyone there you should be proud, it was a great day and there should be more of it.

Anyone that wants to race on a Wed night post it up and I'll see if I can get up there. I haven't raced for about 10 months and now I'm keen as.

Yea, I made it out there in the afternoon just before this happened, A white cloud from the car, I think everyone thought it was coolant at first but no one on the track could see the fire underneath. I sitting in the grandstand when it lit up and started yelling "FIRE" "FIRE" like a big girl lol, then the fire marshals sprang into action before any real damage or loss occurred.

I'm keen for a wendsday night, my car felt strong & had alot more in it however my day was cut short by steering problems so i'm itching to see what the car can really do with the right diff gears & tyre pressures.

There seems to be a lot of interest for a Wednesday night. I will start a thread in a couple of days and see how many people are keen for a run in a month or two (enough time for some fine tuning)

cheers Struggler

now that u jogged my memory, they sure did.i was lucky because,it was a solo pass and i was on my fastest pass, and i hit the rev limiter in 2nd twice.i had been racing all day just in drive, and somehow got distracted buy the

guy, putting a camera in the back of my car and took off in 1st.the box must have shifted to second by itself, but not to 3rd,because i,hit 2nd,on the gas to get the limiter again, then into 3rd.i only went past the line at 130kmh

instead of 175 kmh so i slowed down easy.

i got a best of 13.073 at 108.80mph with street tyres at normal presurre,3.25 lsd, half a 120 litre drop tank and leaving it in drive.on that run i did a 8.477 1/8 mile.1st outing with the car,im learning it

the run i hit the rev limiter and went past the lc/j.i did a 8.2 1/8 mile my fastest of the day.surely a 12 sec run.it would not have been fun to see him there at that speed.with crap starts,i need a big mph to get good times

if that camera man sees this,id love to see that footage, because id love to see what i did, compared to what i think happened :)

ill be back for a wednesday, once a year just wont be enough for me.
