Rare Spares RRQS107 SEAL SIDE WINDOW LC LJ LX UC COUPE $38.89

I hate to be the one to tell you but here we go again..

The rear quarter window seal on the LC/LJ is COMPLETELY different to that of the LX/UC.

Both of these are looking to be remade... properly

regards
Mick

Thanks Mick
That's what I thought the lc/lj ones are only about 0.7mm thick I guess I'll just have to wait a little longer
not that that's going to matter cars been in the build for 10yrs now. The only thing Clarke rubber had was
some really thin flat rubber that looked like bike tyre rubber which would look pox.
How long away is likely to be do you think Mick??

Yeah
the LC/LJ one have a complete different size in profile, etc that the LX/UC ones..

We are working on the LX/UC ones at the moment and they should be ready in the next 8 - 12 weeks. Once that one is done and dusted, we will begin work on the LC/LJ one.

I know what you mean about the Clark Rubber ones.. they are nothing like what is req'd as well.

cheers
Mick

Thanks Macka

I think you will find that you will be able to fit them. You will just have trouble closing your windows.. Some of the other guys might me able to elaborate..

That just answered my question those are not the baily channel for the window that's the opening seal. I need the baily channel that goes in between the glass and the frame.:Headbang2:

Ryan,

I also have this problem. Have you tried Spectrum Rubber? I am planning to try them and will let you know if I have any luck...although it could be a little while before I actually get out there.

Nah Jeff I haven't tried them but I did tey Clarke rubber with no luck,
Rare spares recons they are doing them soon but that could be like them doing the tail lights for LC it took years

G/day Ryano1911

I can't vouch for Rare Spares about how long it will take them to make the filler strips for the 2dr rear side windows but it shouldn't take very long at all.
After all it is only a flat strip of material (approx 40mm wide x 1 to 1.5mm thick) that I wouldn't quite describe as rubber.
Hardest part would probably be sourcing the original type material to make them.

I can also tell you from 1st hand experience it's not an easy job to install the glass and filler strip into the frames.

Cheers
Dave

Well after 3 hours of trying to adjust the catch mechanism on my LX Hatch so the rear windows would close,

The 2 dodgey Rear quater window seals I bought of Ebay a Couple of years ago are now wall paper on the shed wall

They were just to thick and wouldn't allow the catch to stay shut, these were advertised as, "reproduced as per origianal"

After looking at yours Mick they weren't even close, you'll be hearing from me soon mate.

Did anyone end up making these rear quarter window seals with the pinchweld mould and sealing rubber for Lj/LJ coupes. Rare spares still looks like uc style rubber

Torana Restoration Parts make it with the flat rubber strip on the pinch weld. If you buy it lay it out flat as soon as you can, I left mine coiled up and when fitted the flat strip goes all wavy, I'm hoping over time it goes away.

I got the RPA one and also found the rubber strip was all wavy. in places where the glass is hard up against it it flattens out. But in some places the glass doesn’t compress it and it’s all wavy . What I did was stuck some 3mm foam strip between the pinch weld and rubber strip , and it presses it up against the glass more and takes the waves out . Looks much better

Yeah, the waves in these pieces are no joke. Mine is still wavy and it's been in the car two years. :(

Might have to try the foam trick, although that doesn't help when the windows are popped I imagine.
