3500-7000RPM. My dad had one in his plumdinger lc xu1 and says it was all lumpy and a pig to drive. i was wondering if i could get the specs to compare with something of todays technology, like a CAMTECH cam as ive herd these are good.

Pretty easy mate LOL, first link that came up with a quick google search.
251 and 254 at .050" is pretty serious duration....I doubt it would be doing much at 3 grand....4k+ more likely.

hey bomber. what cam do you have by tighe cams? is it good? lumpy?
Cheers
Mate havnt started the engine yet, but its 255 degrees at .050" and .555" at the valve lift and i think 114 degrees overlap....So yes, lumpy. Bit of a custom grind from them.
I will be getting a 4500rpm stall torque converter for it, as i dont expect much to happen before 4200-4300rpm.
Should be fun, after this grenade shit is over and done with its full steam ahead on the LJ again, gotta get that infamous 202 on the engine stand running and see what it does or doesnt do....
Sorry for the thread steal

Yes the Waggot "old" 104 was good but about 15 - 20 years ago they changed the grind and still called it a 104 but it was not as good as the old one. I have a new 104 and a old 104 lying around in my garage. In Perth I think the old 104 used to be called a Sullivan Special.
But nevertheless whatever cam the Sullivan Special was it was the best cam and I had tried a few. I am quite sure I know a cam grinder who has a copy master of the old 104.

hey fellas. does anyone on here know the specs to an old waggot "104" cam to suit the holden red 6s? these cams were the cam to have back in the 80s. the rev range came in at
3500-7000RPM. My dad had one in his plumdinger lc xu1 and says it was all lumpy and a pig to drive. i was wondering if i could get the specs to compare with something of todays technology, like a CAMTECH cam as ive herd these are good.

i had one in my red 6 in my hr wagon it was the best cam i ever had, i got it because the bloke that had it couldnt drive his car, but i had no probs and one good thing was people would ask to borrow my car, they come back 10 mins later and give the keys back because they couldnt move it.

I'm fairly sure Im using a #107 in the 186 XU1 and it's a ripper. Commonly known as a scatter cam as the timing is all over the place.

Im running a 104 in my current 202. Inlet specs on my cam card are 47-78. Its a fun bit of kit, decent overlap and tight LSA's. Can be somewhat subdued down low, but when I hit 3500- 4000 rpm my neck snaps back and things start to rattle and shake. Makes decent power, after I got my static comp up at 11.4 to keep it happy.
Can be a pig on the street if you dont know how to drive it, but I have no probs. Wont idle well under 1100rpm and I cant do 60kph in 4th gear even with 3.9's in the rear. When I read one of the earlier comments above about no one being able to move the car and handing the keys back I laughed. I had my wheel alignment done the other day and I lost count of how many times they stalled it trying to move it and get it up on the hoist!
There are no doubt better cams available these days but i'm a tragic and love old skool nostalgia. I have heard people that say its too much cam for the street (which I think it really isn't) and I just tell them if your not having to work hard behind the wheel, your not really driving at all!!
