anyway i have started to fit the shifter but it's very touchy sometimes it wont engage 2nd 4th or reverse it'll just pop back out, but yet when it was fitted last time it worked fine? does anyone have much idea about the getrag boxes?
and i have got the clutch fluid line? what is the most suitable oil for the gearbox and master cylinder?
cheers josh
also on the yoke end it has about half an inch showing is that normal? or is it meant to sit flush?

The "lead things" are the needle roller bearings. Clean the needle roller bearings in solvent then put them back into the cap with some grease to hold them in place. If there are any gaps between the needle roller bearings then you have lost some and will need to buy a new uni.
It is normal to have 0.5" of the yoke out of the gearbox. When the diff is at full suspension travel the distance from the gearbox to the diff is greater than it is when the diff yoke is level with the gearbox. As it is a new tailshaft it would be worth removing the rear springs and checking the yoke travel throughout the suspension travel. When the diff yoke is level with the gearbox there should be some travel left at the yoke.

And you can buy a single uni... but its the whole joint
And you just need a cap with some needle rollers in it
Can you use a cap/bearings off the old tailshaft ?
