Hey i was wondering if a HQ-WB Statesman intergrated A/C unit would be suitable for a LX torana

I doubt it, they're pretty big. Toranas had their own units if you can find them

Aren't the little aftermarket ones any good? They look like they'd fit behind the dash easy enough.

yeh, they will work just as well as the factory stuff, but the bottom line is they take up valuable space inside the cabin as well as the tacked on look.
The factory units for the torana are different to the bigger holdens, the housing for the underbonnet evaporators are designed specifically for the underbonnnet space of the torana. Possibly on a six cylinder motor a bit of trimming and cutting could get it in, but in a v8 no way.

Have a look at these threads. The Hilux setup would be a better choice than the HQ.
