I know I started a thread a while ago on this, but heres a new one : )

It was back in 2007 when we first got the car� it was a one owner all pretty stock, in all a great base to start from. It had a stock 173 and trimatic (which has since been changed to manual), and was pretty tidy.

The motor served pretty well, but was getting tired and an upgrade was in order. So when Brad (Brad1979UC) offered a lend of an unused modified 202 it simply couldn't be refused. So this is the interim motor until the fresh 202 is completed (fingers crossed will be in by my birthday-end of the year�. But we shall have to see)

The engine was put in probably more than two months ago, its finally running alright after some interesting times... A new exhaust was fitted yesterday so now it sounds like it should.. no longer like a strangled cat ( photos to come...)

So just some pics to follow�. And some good cruising too even if its with L plates on

looks good brianna whats it go like in the lj i never been in brads uc but i imagine it would go better in the lighter one

umm its alright, its only on petrol so brad still reckons it went heaps harder in his... but apparently i dont give it enough?? It goes heaps better than the tired old 173 though... still spins tyres in the dry

Well done. The new engine looks great. I like the idea of the cut tappet cover to adjust the rockers to prevent oil going everywhere.

I remember seeing your car at the bayswater show. To me your car stood out at the show. I really like the 4 door LJ's.

I must get one down the track.

Lol...woo you made the thread! Yea It goes well but i still reckon it went harder in mine, then again it was on BBQ fuel, and i'd let it sing out to 5200-5500, however I reckon with the new exhaust will be interesting to see how it goes, it was really heavily baffled and had a terrible bark in the revrange so hopefully thats gone now and it goes like it used to. :rockon:

ahhh id probs get brad to answer that one.. from memory its a 186 yt head some massive wade cam nd a 350holley nd exstractors, ive probs missed alot but yeah it certainly goes better than what was in it before

good thing dad likes me and spending long days in the garage

thanks studricho.. it was one of dads ideas worked quite well considering makes cleaning up after a lot easier

Basic cam specs its a wade cam, decent lobes on it, sounds great

INT 224 [email protected]" 0.4545" Valve lift
EX 232 [email protected]" 0.474" Valve lift

other than that its std bottom end, new lifters, manley hardened rods, YT kidney chambered head, YT valves and 3 angle valve job. 7/16 screw in studs with roller rockers. And then just your usual bolt on go fast bits.

That looks to be a fairly lumpy cam. what are the prices these days for a big cam from 'WADE' like that one?

I think it was just over 300 for the cam and a new set of lifters. Pretty good I think, I'm also pretty sure thats trade pricing.

UPDATE TIME!!!!

The torana had been off the road for the past couple of months getting a little tlc to the engine bay, as the new motor was arriving in the new year. So brads engine was pulled out and the fun began. What was hopefully gonna be a few weeks off the road has become a few months�mainly due to the fact of the rust that was discovered in the lower channel of the windscreen. Hopefully within the month itll be back together again

Anyway some pics to follow of the rebuild and of the new engine

hahaha yes definately..im at uni atm so ill do it when i get home, less than a week away from running

pretty much just needs wiring and interior put back together and we are good to go..
dad has been working pretty flat out on it, bith sought want it back on the road real soon

really stoked about driving it again though, and this time all on my own

Well here it is...

So it pretty much it stayed in primer for like about a month, whilst we were playing round with options for the windscreen.

So the old rust was cut out and new plates were welded in, and a bit of bog for shape

So the last few weeks have been full of progress, engine bay was painted black a bit over a week ago..but unfortunately first time round had waaayyyy too many imperfections in the paint, so after being rubbed back again
another coat was laid back on

Tadaaaaa all balck

Dashboard was also rubbed back and changed to black, looks pretty smooth, shame you dont see most of it

Scuttle was just painted out of an acrylic rattle can, has soo many variations of beige where the paint is thin so i wasnt really concerned

Just painted the dash pad black with some vynl paint, with be covered up with a dash mat anyway

Also put the lowered springs in aswell, pretty massive difference in height

As it sits tonight

So thats pretty much as up to date as i can get it for the moment, plan for tonight is to bleed the brakes and hook up the clutch.
Ill keep a little better updated now

Brainna thats f-ing awesome! A real credit to you and your old man. And that motor is gonna be a weapon! Bet you can't wait till its all running. You're gonna be the toughest chick on the street!

So when this is done is your old man actually gonna get stuck into his EH? Cos he should. I can't understand what he's waiting for. But it looks like hes been pretty busy with this lately. Honestly, he's done well.

Hmm im hoping he is, ive got about another 2 months of uni before the semester is over so might get stuck into it then, would be good to have something else to cruise in.

Well bit of another update on the progress..all accessories have since been fitted to the motor and engine bay, its looking pretty good now. The plan is to run the wiring under the guards so the loom had to be extended a fair bit for the headlights in particular.

And today the windscreen got fitted, looks the goods especially with a new rubber even if it is a rares one (corners are a lot thinner and curl under a fair bit)

Well dad is in sydney for work this week but we are hoping to fire it on sunday sometime, i really am getting excited as its really close now.
Its amazing how much you do actually miss it
