Pics of what you have will be a big help.
If it hasn't been letter stamped on the end like in that thread it could be anything. :dontknow:

7437395 is a 186 head, which originally are 9 port heads....but maybe someone ground the cast posts out of the inlet port and fitted a port divider...the pic (of the ports) will be the answer.

because people are too lazy to get the machine shop to cut out the head bolt boss's and pump in some tube when doing a hottie motor.

And an exchange worked head is worth around a $1000 then up from there. The pictures show no port work , maybe just painted yellow.

Looks like a bit of a bitsa, got double valve springs like a YT but no port work. Also has YT valves....

I wouldent waste any money on it, unless you plan to get it worked. Might be a good starting point pending on how much has been machined off it.

Cheers.

Its a quick easy bolt on, I can see them worth $300+

If you can get $150 for a run of the mill holden head, then I dont see why $300 for something that is a decent upgrade for a mild motor isnt worth that much.

I bought three "stage three" holden heads for $250 at a swap meet years ago, one of them is on my torry still today :)

bungxu-1, that's just a regular 9-port head, not a 12-port.

Someone has bothered to put bigger valves in it and stuff, for that it is worth something. One could easily strip it down, check the valve guide play and potentially get away with just cleaning everything, CC'ing it, doing a bit of porting and throwing some new stem seals at it, might well be a good head with no machining $$$. It's got the adjustable rockers too

To pick an XU1 head for $280 certainly is the bargain of the year.
