I was pointing out to LH SLR 5000 that it may be difficult to rebuild the LH rack so he would be better off fitting the reconditioned LX rack and selling the LH rack with the LX wreck. The thread I linked to is about rebuilding an LH rack.
I also know the racks are usually date coded. I'm only bothered to know as i'm selling my LX cheap to suit wreck or restore but it has a recently recoed rack that i'd like to fit to my LH if possible as it would save me the expense of reconditioning it's original rack.
Yeah, well AFIK LH, LX and UC all use the same shaft bush.
FWIW an old mate used to reco racks for a living, he used to just stick a bar of nylon on the lathe and machine his own bushes, never had a problem with any of them and he used to supply alot of south western sydney mechanics with racks.
