Hi All

I thought that I would throw some pics up of the samples I rec'd today of the new heater hoses.

These are no longer available and they need to be preformed to go where the originals should go.

Anyway, have a look and let me know your thoughts.

cheers
Mick

I had to hold the hose in place as I don't have the clip on the engine at the moment..

Good work, looks good Mick, would certainly be a vast improvement on what's available to do the job currently. I will be interested in a set once you have them into production.

Cheers
John

They look the goods. I need the bypass one. Can you still get the clamps that hold them together?

No mate,
these are completely new manufacture of the hoses.

The whole reason that I looked at getting these made was because you cannot get them anymore..

It's as if parts suppliers must believe that either,
a. the parts will not wear out, or
b. it'sonly for a Torana..

They look the goods. I need the bypass one. Can you still get the clamps that hold them together?

The bypass ones are still available. The original style clamps are available as well.
The reason that I have done the bypass one is that These will sell as a set. I am remaking the the clip that holds the hoses to the rocker cover as well..

cheers
Mick

Mick those are pretty close, the originals only had one bend in the end there it comes down to the thermostat housing, it was 90 degrees. The other hose was not bent at the end. I have a set in the shed i'll take some pics.

Mick

wth the hose from the thermostat to the heater, yeah, the bend is too close to the thrmostat. I have told them about that. I thought that the angle from the rocker cover would be more like 60 degrees, not 90??

With the hose from the water pump, are you saying that 90 degree bend from the pump, shouldn't be there? All the pics that I have seen, point towards it being a preformed bend..

I'll be interested to see your pics..

cheers
Mick

It's interesting you say that Matty. After seeing this thread, I popped the bonnet on my hatchback to have a look at my 253 hoses. They look like factory hoses (ie. nicely shaped with proper bends), but they run across to the drivers side rocker cover and straight into the heater outlets on that side.

Are there multiple setups from factory - either model based or year based? Or has my car just been hacked around with. When I get a chance, I'll snap a photo or two and post them up.

I'm keen to restore my engine bay back to factory spec, so either way, this new hose kit sounds great.

LXCHEV

Here is a rundown of what the cars had.

There were two setups. One was for those cars without emission controls (LH and early LX pre 1 Jul 76) and for those cars with emission controls (LX post 1 Jul 76).

These two diagrams should explain what I am talking about..

Without Emission Control (note the different positions for 5.0 and 4.2lt Engines)

Here are a few pics to show the differences.

Mick, great photos, thanks for that. So is the only 253 engine in your photos the last one??

My hatch is ADR27A (post 1 July 76)... it's totally different to anything posted above, must be a bitsa I reckon!

Found a couple of old photos that show what I'm talking about:

Yep,

I agree with Mick, you've got a bit of everything happening there...

It's interesting, I had a scan through 100 odd pages in the Sold section, on the AMCS Site and I only managed to get three pics of what the Post Jul 76 Setup should be.

Most were nothing like factory standard.

cheers
Mick

My hoses are looking pretty swollen and tired too - so it will be a good chance to replace them and route them correctly once the new kit is available.

Cheers guys.

the pictures posted earlier, the red A9X engine bay the hoses are incorrectly fitted, look how the one going to the thermostat hosing is bent around the accelerator bracket, the owner has simply switched them around when he has connected them. The blue one looks like it has 2 of the same hose fitted.

Here's how it should look

Hey Mick

thanks for posting the pictures...

There are a couple of areas that you might be able to answer..

In the area that the hose goes over the top of the Distributor, is that preformed? The hose will bend to that shape, but if it is preformed, then I would like to get these done the same.

Where there any distinct markings on these hoses?? I was thinking of adding 27a and a part no..

I just went to look at the hoses that I have here and found that the one from the water pump was around the wrong way. So I took some more pictures.

The area in question Mick, is this..
Posted Image

With this hose around the correct way, you will note that the bend is not as sharp.
Posted Image

And hence, this end looks alot better..
Posted Image

This bend here will be adjusted to be correct..
Posted Image

Hopefully, the end products will be looking like this, only better.

cheers
Mick

Yes, they look to be preformed but not in the area yours are, it looks too high up.
They do have part numbers on them

Mick,

they're not proformed at all in that area, that is the natural bend of the hose..

They have no numbers on them at the moment... It maybe that the numbers I use, up near the firewall are;
27A-9939208,
27A-9939207,

the bypass one, I wont worry about..

cheers
Mick

Hi all

just to update you all on what is happening with these...

REDA9X (thanks Mick!) has sent me a set of very good old hoses that will be sent across as a sample this morning so we can get these 100% accurate.

Hopefully we will have new test samples within the month.

When I do, I will post pics up.

cheers
Mick

^ Just having a look, the L34 picture is not correct, unless there is a difference in the heater hoses between the SL/R 5000 and the L34. You can see the heated manifold outlet blocked off. I am configuring mine as per the manual.
