Love the rims mate I'm a sucker for dish! Actually prefer the 5 hole jelly type rims as opposed to the 6 hole ones.

Driving along the express way there was a pile up in the right lane and when coming over the crest of the hill i had no where to go :( , Front bumper was hardly touched

Posted Image

So again not much cash flow so we did what we could before sending it out to fix what i couldnt

Posted Image

And here is the only shot of the engine bay before we started the build

WHOAH. one of the classic car owners nightmares!

It had the same wheels and tyre sizes but not Thunder at the time, not sure if it sold then the new owner called it that or maybe it was still the same owner , never seen him on the day . All i know was that i wanted his wheels

Yea it's a bitch ey, just hoping mine will turn out as good as this has post accident!

How was it repaired, did you source another rad support panel to be welded in? I'm interested because I'm going through all this same jargon now, just with the ass of mine :P

yeah pretty much , had to have the new rad support panel welded in and they repaired the front right side rail , pretty lucky didnt damage more considering the bumper didnt hit. Panels took most of the hit and i had slowed a fair bit .

Also you can just see in the last pics i had new seats in the front and the rears were re upholstered to match.

If i had of known you wanted them Tony i would have brought them to the drag day and handed them to you ;)

Actually in reality we went around for weeks putting them on each others car with a hose clamp to see how long it would last before be noticed, record was 3 weeks :)

What a top thread, it's great seeing the history of a car like this. A few comments:

* Those old exhaust tips are hot
* Never knew about the crash, it's a credit to you for fixing it so well. Maybe without the crash, the car wouldn't be what it is today?
* Loving the old Summernats pics
* Mmmmm, that green Torana, HOT AS!
* Those old exhaust tips are hot ;)

Well done mate!

Yes Dennis that would be correct, have been for just over 2 years and lovin it

Would have been around mid 90's, the lx was supercharged and i think running a predator carby and i think the uc was a v8 too but cant be 100% sure

hahaha Brett, gotta love a good tip hey

The intension was there to always do some work to the hatch but it may have started it early and then you know what its like , one thing leads to another, cant do this without doing that etc

ok so after a few issues with the banjo it was time for an upgrade

When we bought the 9 inch from the trading post it apparently was out of a LX only to find it didnt fit , actually set up for a uc so we ended up getting it modded and then it went straight in

Time to tidy the engine bay abit, plug lead seperators, removed the prop valve of the gaurd, rerouted brake lines and filled in holes of the gaurds and had it spray around the bay again , also at this stage now running 308, toploader and 9 inch

Posted Image
Posted Image

Now i mentioned the engine had a vibration before due to excellent balancing work from a local business so it was time to rip it down again and get that sorted.

At this point a few years go by as we decide to take the plunge and buy a house, i strip the motor down in search for more power and it sits around for around 3 years doing nothing as all monies are tied up in the house. Luckily enough i have a job change for 12 months or so that brings a little extra cash in so its back to the motor again,
