Hi Mate,
I really enjoyed having a close look at your car after being a fan for so long.
I tried to find you (Although not knowing what you look like made it hard. Sometimes tough to tell who owns the car with so many people around)
I hope you enjoyed the weekend as much as i did.
I had lots of excellent feedback about my silver bloke and totally enjoyed myself.
Cant wait for next year!
All the best,
Adrian

Are you in Victoria?

Do you ever get hassled by the plod about the scoop out the bonnet?

I have been thinking/planning for a few years now about the scoop setup i want, i don't think it's ever been done before though.

I want to use a similar style bug catcher but have it reversed and connected to the throttle so that when i'm driving i can see the triple butterflies cracking open and closed. (i love the look but i don't see why everyone else should get to see it but not me)

Also, to have a custom A9X style reverse scoop made from perpex and tinted black (so you can still see through it but only just) on a black bonnet etc, which should make it legal because it covers the bug catcher.

I haven't decided on a few things like carb or EFI, polished scoop or black, and whether the perspex can handle the temps it will be exposed to without melting or something. Carb would be cheaper and easier, but could cause fueling issues when driving hard on a track.

What do you reckon?

Im in NSW

Yes the scoop must be covered by a A9X style scoop or fibreglass scoop of some sort, My scoop is only on for the photoshoot and car shows ;) (pm sent)

Carb is cheaper and you can get good performance no doubt about it and i like the old school look in the engine bay so it was never an option for efi for me, but now there is one setup that looks very much like a carby (BOSS efi from memory) and i may try that one day. I see my mate tune cars while we are driving and its awesome the ease of getting a car to run right without pulling bowls off and changing jets and air bleeds etc , all done through a handset or laptop. Mine runs different from a warm day to a cool day and can sometimes be very noticeableso i suppose you could have 2 setups in the tune with programmable efi so there are great benefits but thats just my opinion

Cheers mate.

Yeh, there a quite a few different throttle body EFI setups you can get that look like carbs - Projection, Holley, MSD, etc.

If you get a manifold with injector bosses you can run fuel rails and have mulit-port injection aswell.

One thing i have found is that it's very hard to find kits with progressive linkages.

I love having mechanical secondaries on a carb, but most EFI setups are only one stage and you can barely notice any difference between half throttle and full throttle. Guess it's not just an air thing, but fuel also.

There's a few options, so I'll figure something out anyway, but there is certainly plenty of gear out now that has the old school carb look and is EFI.

These look quite cool, almost completely self contained rather than being just a throttle body setup, and designed to look like a carb:

(wideband O2 as well)

Yep thats the one , it originally came out as a brand BOSS EFI then projection so yep thats the one, bolt up and it tunes itself but comes with a base tune. Round $1800 from memory from the states

Great pics as always Rob!

Hi Rob.
You're Car looks so nice!!!! I love this pick I just set it as my background . I was just wondering if you could tell me what size are you're rear outer hoops If you don't mind me asking. Thay look like thay could be 7"?. As mine at the minute are only 4"outer with 5 3\4 iner dish not including the center 1". I'm also interested in you're back spaceing and diff width and also who you got to make the rear outer hoops, was it simmons?.
regards Paul

What a car, if mine comes out half as good I'll be happy. Just a couple of things I would have done is paint the sill panel the same colour as the car (to make it look lower) and I would have put the charcoal canister under the front guard to keep the engine bay tidy, not that it doesn't still look good as it is.

Cheers Paul, The diff is standard torana width and the rims are 10.5 inch, 5 inch inners and 5 inch outers and the centre which is located inbetween the rims make up the other 1/2in, they were originally 6 inch inners but they used hit on the inside so i ran a spacer , now there is no need for the spacer. Offsets were made by Retro Wheels but im sure he bought them from overseas and just put them together , let me know if you want their number. Also if you want the full size pic let me know made cause photobucket reduces the size

Funny you should mention that Dennis , the sill panel is driving me crazy at the moment cause soon ill be taking the car in to get a few things tidied up and i was thinking of changing it to the same colour of the car, decision decisions

Also the canister was put inside the bay cause i was told that the boys in blue hate it when they cant see it?? But i guess you would know that better and its different for you cause your one of the better ones :spoton:
