No, didn't manage to run power to the shed, but I have it all planned and will do it soon enough.

My beaver is all welded up now and nearly finished off. Hmmmm... sounds  a bit wrong that doesn't it! :D Should finish painting the under side this weekend, then start to strip the rest of the body. I'll stash all the swinging panels in the shed and work on them there, while finishing the body in the garage.

How is your resto going Lee? You better fess up before I check your thread for progress.... :dontknow:

Still getting back into the swing of things, having sent 6 months not looking at, or thinking about, this resto. Hit the ground running though, after a weekend of progress.

Finished that FILTHY job of laying on my back, with gloves up to my elbows, scotchbrite dipped in stale petrol, cleaning the underside. And I had a couple of small holes in my gloves too, so it made it worse to have petrol on the INSIDE of the gloves! Still, a job that had to be done, and in the end, was done well.

Attached File  IMG_0852.JPG   124.82K   4 downloads

After cleaning, I etch primed, because of the bare metal in places, then... love it or hate it.... I hit it with stoneguard under the wheel arches, and the remainder got some black anti-rust paint.

Attached File  IMG_0885.JPG   140.29K   2 downloads

That totally completes the underside. All of it has now been cleaned thoroughly and painted appropriately. So I turn to the outside of the body now, stripping off the doors again, as they were reattached due to lack of storage space. All panels, along with glass and interior, now resides in the shed.

Speaking of glass, the rear screen hadn't been popped out until yesterday. I left it in because let's face it, storing glass is a pain in the ass! I wasn't overly worried about what I would find under the seal, but damn I have seen some horror pics on this forum. Sorry guys, I can't add to those horror pics.... all good news from my perspective, with only a tiny bit of scale and a pin hole or 2.

Easy fix! Very happy about that! :spoton:

And while the welder is back out and I am working in this area, I'm going to tackle this odd repair.

Attached File  IMG_0897.JPG   99.2K   3 downloads

One thing that always shits me, is a butchered rear parcel shelf. This one is pretty good, in that it hasn't been hacked, but rather nicely sliced. I'm going to use this mint parcel shelf to put mine back to factory form, with no speaker holes. I have a modern car for a modern stereo and speakers. My SL/R will get an AM radio at most. I'm leaning towards no radio actually. The rumble of a V8 is music to me anyway!

More progress next weekend, if I'm not working....

Cheers guys. I actually enjoy the photography and writing of the story just as much, if not more, than the actual resto. So you could say that the car, and the story, are both labours of love! :D

Lee, I remember the bog shirt. It was pink wasn't it? :D

I'm glad you put your washing skills to good use there, Lee. Do me a fav though mate, and stitch it back together please, like the good seamstress that you are. I know you can mate!! :innocent:

Hey Col, let me tell you a great story about welding.... When I left school, I did a fitting & machining trade at TAFE. Part of the trade was welding, and once a week for 18 weeks we did a welding class, with a graded exercise. All of these weekly exercises added up to 60% of our final mark for that subject, with a final exam making up the remaining 40%. On the night before our final exam, I wrote off my first car, the yellow LX that I showed earlier on in this thread. I was sore, sorry and sad the next morning, and didn't go to TAFE. I missed out on sitting the final exam for welding.... BUT STILL PASSED!! My weekly grades were good enough to get me a PASS. That was..... 22 years ago :o and even though I don't work in that industry now, nor weld that regularly, I still LOVE it and get a real kick out of it. So cheers for the comment :)

:nudie:

Worked 10 days straight, 12 hours each... so now I have 5 days off. Getting stuck into resto BIG TIME. In fact... I'm suffering burn out with work. Kinda lost my way a bit... quitting my job next week. Only been there 3 months, but it's stressing me out like I have never been before. I'm going to take time for myself now and figure out what I want to be doing for a career, instead of making mistakes.... anyway, this isn't a counselling session, here is my update.

Finished the underside completely. Now turning to the body shell. Stripped out the remaining interior. I was kinda using the shell for storage of lots of different things. Now it's empty.

Attached File  IMG_0837.jpg   86.11K   1 downloads

Found lots of goodies under the seats. I was intrigued by the bling necklace.

Attached File  IMG_0840.jpg   133.7K   1 downloads

So I had to try it on. Aaayy wassup yo??

Attached File  IMG_0844.jpg   88.29K   1 downloads

The floors in this shell are MINT! Looks liek it has never leaked in its life. Really happy about that.

Attached File  IMG_0848.jpg   105.57K   1 downloads

Gave them a light cleanup. Will hit them with satin black.

Attached File  IMG_0850.jpg   105.54K   2 downloads

A few little things to weld up on the drivers side. Decided to weld up the holes for the scuff plates. They seemed to be too big, from having the screws stripped. I will redrill them with assembling the car.

Attached File  IMG_0852.jpg   84.23K   1 downloads

A lick with the grinder and looking sweet. Will do the other side in the next few days.

Attached File  IMG_0855.jpg   115.49K   1 downloads

As always... more to come. :spoton:

Yeah mate,,, totally agree.

Work to live not live to work. No use in getting a knot in the stomach on your way to work. I did that for a few months and thought this is stupid so I quit.

Great build notna and love the bling.
