Magnificent. No need to justify it mate, it's brilliant. You're in my neck of the woods - look forward to honking at you on the road one day.

Are you aware you're missing those little chrome square tabs in the window surround or are they hard to get so you left them out?

Yep, they're chrome plated plastic tabs with a sprue that goes into the hole there. I see them missing on quite a few Toranas; not sure if they sell them anywhere.

Procomp electronic dizzies absolute P.O.S.
That's true.
If you have your old one you can get it reconditioned at Carburettor Service Company in Burwood; they will also set up your carby for you; they're highly recommended by many. I had a Commo elec. dizzy that shat itself, I put in a Procomp one but it just didn't feel right and I was nervous it'd crap out on me at the worst time. I had CSC recondition the Commo one and I put the Procrap on ebay.

Yea, it never had those when I bought it. I always did wonder what those holes were for

That knob ... is a pool ball that fell into my pocket at the pub 22 years ago. I always wanted to make a gear knob out of it, and now I have

LOL... I'd love to know how many 8 balls have been pinched from pubs over the years, I always figured they must be able to buy individual replacements?
But not many people are that keen on the 3, although a red one might change gears faster!

Same with mine and I was befuddled for years; I thought the PO may have had a roof rack installed and drilled holes for it; I have a few dents on my roof; a friend informed me what they were.
Here's a pic of a set of trims; notice the little squares.
I also had a red gearknob with a redback spider in it; I drilled a hole into it from underneath, put in a minibulb and ran some thing wires down the gearstick and hooked them up to my fusebox; when I switched on the headlights, the gearknob would light up. The damn thing was stolen from my car in my family's garage when it was off the road for many years. Thank god the stupid thieves didn't realise how valuable an SL/R interior is.

Great work Anton car looks amazing. I have a soft spot for the little 253, having had a HQ and HZ with two fiddy threes! Great job in keeping one alive rather than ditching it for a 308.
Enjoy driving it!

Cheers all for support.
I have waited 5 looooong years... and some, to be able to come home on a Friday afternoon and fire up my Torrie for a burn around the block. Damn it feels GOOD!
I've already ditched the stock air cleaner. I'm afraid it was choking my induction quite severely. Originality is one thing, but drive-ability and FUN are a whole better thing

A trick from the old days was to take the lid off, and screw it back on upside down.

Enjoy!

Cheers guys. I enjoy documenting the journey, so putting that together is part of a resto to me.
Also... I sorted out my hubcap dilemma. I managed to re-rivet the ones that were loose and they finish off the resto perfectly. Happy days!
