shot of nitrous to add on!
tranny: 2 speed powerglide, 5000 convertor, full manualised
diff: going to get the usual 9inch made with 31spline, full spool etc
hope you guys like the pics.
when i first got it:
after a lot of long days working on it with my mates:
as u can see i boxed up the rails, welded new plates in where the heater box used to be and also cut of and welded
the lips on the firewall.
did want to have any guages on the bonnet so decided to make up a new dash panel from mdf

The engine bay pleases me immensly. I also plan to have a 383 in my bay when I've got all the damn bodywork done. It seems you've done exactly what I am going to do with my engine. Why did you choose the AFR heads? I don't really know why I'm set on them, I just am. Are they the 210cc ones? What are the details of the internals of the donk? And in order to fit the dizzy in, is it just a matter of cutting the gutter back to the firewall or does the cutting need to go back further?
hey mate, internals are the usual bits n pieces, grouted block, nitrous forged pistons, filed rings, h beams from memory etc.
the dizzy is a big problem especially the msd ones... basically you only need to cut of the lip and reweld it from the inside. if you do that it will give you about 10mm clearance from the plugs to the firewall!
havnt really got a answer about why i chose the AFR 210's haha, my mate basically built the motor for me and chose the goodies, they do flow pretty good though untouched.
will have more photos up tomorrow of the boot setup etc!

Thanks for the info. I guessed that the heads were 210s only because that's what I want and the claimed rev range is perfect for me I'll trim my gutter off while I'm fixing my plenum, which I'm doing at the moment. Oh, one more thing, those rocker covers look kick arse are you boxing the air filter for your scoop or leaving it an open type set-up?
havnt really thought about if im going to box it up or not....probably get something fabricated to suit the hole size as its big haha....originally i was going to run a real big air filter but things obviously changed!
Hi Ben, nice engine bay, that came up really well.

hey bud pipes are custom made from a joint down here called exhaust brothers, there 1-7/8 into 3.5" collectors
i read over that thread you gave me the link to, i got a fairly good idea from what u were saying, i think ill have to get in touch with a engineer and take it from there really

dont get me wrong you have done a very nice job and i like the fact you have kept it looking all original looking ( the sleeper look ) but with all that power how are you going to get it to hook up unless its tubbed or is there plans for that down the track ?? now i sit and wait with the bullet proof vest on
haha i was waiting for this..... without tubbing i can just fit a 26x10 slick with about 5mm clearance haha which i ran on my last torana...it did a 10.9 with 512hp......i know this one has a lot more power but im using a nitrous progressive controller to ease in the 150hp shot so hopefully it can hold traction as it progresses..... aslong as i can get a 9.9 im happy
tubs are possibly happening aswell in the next 2 weeks once i get out the grinder and welder with my mate to obviously fit a larger tyre but im weighing up how hard the engineers is going to be if i do so due to cutting the rear chasis rails, relocating shocks etc.

Anyone who didn't know their Torana's would be hard pressed to pick it, which IMO is fantastic,
One of the best I've seen. Very cool car.

Love your engine bay mods, It has cleaned it up beautifully while still maintaining the original look.

i know what you mean mate, i wouldnt have had a clue if i didnt own one, especially the top lip of the firewall, i spent prob 3 days with my mate shaping it then changing our mind and redoing it.....haha sadly it took us about 4 months to actually be happy with how the engine bay looked before we put it in primer... we didnt want it to be the same as every other one out there, paid of though thats for sure
