this one is the only one with the 427 fitted there is a show car as well, it's in Birdwood museum

How the heck did he get the chance to swoop that up, thought these sort of things arent ment to be sold to the public?
And the engineers are asking me if I have a collapsable steering column to pass reg. and they let this 427ci monster on the streets, not fair

There was one in Targa Tas a few years ago - not sure who drove it, Brock or Skaiffe. Can sort of remember people being upset about there only being one "special" around (and entered in Targa) and talk of them making a few more to stop the upset people from being upset.

Yeah, I think they did only like 25 of them or something like that or am I thinking of something else, I know they have a simalar race car

No way did they make 25! They were only planning for like 75. I reckon eight or something if you're lucky.
Two track cars, maybe a few showcars, this one, maybe another one or two for rallies etc, but honestly I thought Brock/Skaife was just racing a hot Monaro... I don't remember any HRT 427s down there.

Hmmm I think there is a little trouble reading here, you guys are thinking of other cars.
There were 2 made, this one is the only one with the 427 and build plate, the other was the show car, it's got a GEN 3 and no build plate.
The rego plate is a fake, put there by Holden, I don't believe the car has an ADR plate as it's a prototype.
The car Brock drove in Targa was just a beefed up CV8 5.7, and the ones raced in the Bathurst 24 hour were full race cars (based on this car had it been put in production). This car was intended to be produced with a price tag of around $220,000 form memory. Mick would know (yellowa9x's) he had a deposit on one when the pulled the pin.

A few things to answer some questions about the HRT 427.
She isn't registered and I don't think it could get registered as emissions would be an issue! The plates are dummies HSV had made up for the no real reason except that they look good.
There are only 2 HRT 427's. This one and the one Holden own. Holden's one is in the National Motor Museum in S.A. Red mentioned that Holden's one is a show car with a smaller engine fitted.
I got it by being persistent. When the HRT 427 was 1st shown at the Sydney Motor Show in 2002, I just had to have one!
What did it cost? Toooooo........ much!

The LX in the background belongs to the mechanic that works on my cars.

I dont believe it is the real deal as I had my money down for one and can tell a few small differences.
show us pics of the engine bay.
Because I missed out I ended up with a 2002 GTS coupe.
By the way has anyone heard of one last HSV monaro. I have my 5k down for that too but not heard anything more as yet.
I have been told it will have the 427 in it.

The GTS, she is real. This is exactly how the road car was to be. It was HSV's until last week.
Red has some photos of the engine bay. The photo of the compliance plate says what it is. HSV wouldn't fake one of its own compliance plates.
I think your right about the last HSV Monaro being something special. I keep getting different stories about the engine size.

The GTS, the car you saw was the show car so it does have small differences, I think thats been pointed out a few times

, i would very very tempted to have a daily driver being a red monaro and swap the plates on a saturday around midnight and do some cruizing ....

spoken to any one who even knew of them?
Did you know they were slightly restyled and made ADR compliant
about 10 years back? There was a failed attempt to get them back
in to production with a very sexy drop top shown. Doors did not open,
but that is what they did to make them compliant!
From what I understood, it only fell over due to funding, nothing else.
The chap that edited Motor Manual was very much involved, as were
some Ford designers on the sly I suspect. They were all buddies.
I cant find/remember who it was that were going to make them,
I dont think it was Bolwell, who are now kiddie ride makers.
Now that prototype would be worth having!!
