it is the best ute conversion ive seen in regards to it actually working and not looking like a dodgy mis-match of cars and styles.
look forward to seeing its changes.

Hmm would be very interesting to see what itd look like with front spoiler and flares.... maybe a chrome roll bar? and couple of Sheila's in the back... or blue healers at least

Keep it flareless (they would ruin it)
black would look great IMO, but something like yellow or barbados would look even better (orange would top the lot though!)
Cant wait to see what you come up with!
and congrats!

Does anyone have a decent shifter to suit an M20 they'd like to sell? Something like a speco twin stick.

Paint the wheels gunmetal and then put it back together and see how it looks, I would suggest it will be a lot nicer!
If you want fat wheels, tub it. Flares on a ute? Not for me!

Don't listen to them, Tim! It needs to be toranaized. Spoilers, flares, droptank, blackouts. People will still notice the utefulness.
+1
Wouldn't have thought of flares myself but now that it has been mentioned I think they might look good. Would need to tape them to the body and just see how it looks first.
Droptank, blackouts and spoiler would definitely look good.
I think doing it as an SLR or SS would make it stand out much more as a Torana ute, rather than people just mistaking it as a factory ute that they just don't quite recognise.

nice paint and repaint the red wheels black and a general tidy up would make this a cool parts carrier for sure.

Can anyone do a quick photoshop to see what this would actually look like?
I am non-committal at this stage.
I reckon its cool as it is but may be even cooler if it had flares.

I agree, could go either way... Could turn it into something amazing, or might look tacky and crap!!!
I think it needs better wheels though, whether with tubs or flares! Think tuffgongs LC Ute... Had big fat wheels and made it look cool!!! After all this is going to be your company promo car yeah?
Also, you don't want to look too factory, otherwise it might go un-noticed... You want people to go, Oh nice torry!! Just wait, its a ute!! COOL! Which could mean the flares, blackouts etc could help.

Barbados green with or without blackouts would be good.
It will probably have a front spoiler, and I'll make a 3 or 4 inch cowl scoop from steel and weld it into another bonnet, just for giggles. Other than that, I like the fact it is so subtle. I'd be happy to change the wheels, but couldn't be bothered changing to HQ brakes, so wheel choice is very limited for the budget I have for this car.
So how much do you want for that shifter orangelj? I'd be really keen on that.
Another thing I'll be doing is painting the black in the grill and headlight surrounds, and just leave the rim silver. I don't like the all silver look. Not aggressive enough.

There used to be a torrie ute near my house but it had a fixed tailgate. Then the guy went and cut out a tailgate with an angle grinder and put some hinges on it. I haven't seen it since but it was made out of a hatch if my memory serves me correctly.
Nice buy and can't wait to see what you are going to do with it.

It's a rough pic, but you get the idea.
Speaking of the old LH, I dug the steering wheel out that used to be in it. It was looking a bit sad though. I thought I could chuck this in the ute.
It was pretty crusty looking so earlier tonight I cleaned the heck out of it and vinyl dyed it. Not sure how long it will last, but it's worth finding out.
It's on the left after being dyed, and the steering wheel my brother bought for the hatch is on the right. Apart from the soft centre pad they're exactly the same. Well, except now mine is all black : )
So that's the first bit of work I've done on the ute. Phew, need a rest after all that work : )

Wow somebody has put some serious effort into the metalwork on that car. There are a LOT of changes!
Paint the wheels gunmetal and then put it back together and see how it looks, I would suggest it will be a lot nicer!

but y not paint it pink
that looks sweet as and a good buy for the price
i always tend to use bumber bar paint it tends to last a little longer than the 5 mins vinal paint lasts

Well I did a quick photoshop using my old LH SLR5000 as the base, as it already has the flares and barbados green paint.
It's a rough pic, but you get the idea.
That looks A LOT better than i thought it would.
