Coupla little things to fix, nothing major. Almost there!!!

One of the wheel cylinder's is leaking, would only lock up one rear. Will explain why the car was a bit twitchy under brakes going down the Clyde!!!

Mmmm, nice new Yokohama's fitted on the rims.

At least I'm getting my Toranafest money's worth!!! The fun just doesn't stop...

So are the yokohamas legal then or will the situation be the same when the wheels are fitted up (copper bait)? Just curious of course as I am not a fan of skinny grandma type wheels on tough looking cars. 6jj rims do not float my boat lol.

Cheers
Al.

If it's the one I think you mean (red/orange?) it was on a trailer.

It was trailered to Toranafest, but he told me he was slapping some street tyres on it and cruising in it once he gets used to the power. Its engineered and registered.
Keith will be able to tell you the full story of it.

Registered before the blower went on dont make it street legal lol
Just needed to clear that up. With the Highway Patrol prowling around on the Sunday its a damn good job the car wasnt driven to the venue from the motel as planned..

My twisted view on Tornafest 2010 ..... Part 1

I had to pack twice :wtf: because the first one was to make sure I could actually fit in all of my display as I had added more items.

Posted Image

Yep, it all fitted and I also had remembered to pack my supplies for the drive to Newy :spoton:

Posted Image

I headed off at 5am Saturday morning to the song of "Bat out of Hell" by Meatloaf.

First thing to greet me was these 3 characters and I think Danny was trying to stop Keith from hearing my blariing 60's & 70's music

Posted Image

I averaged 24 MPG for the whole trip and I know some of the cars were a bit thirstier but this one was ravenous and even started to eat the driver

Posted Image

Settled in and was ready for the afternoon cruise into Newy but once again I will have to complain about the traffic at the motel

What a traffic jam and I was finding it hard to get out into the line of cars.

Posted Image

Posted Image

But a good samaritan let me into the line away we went :clappin:

Posted Image

Damn slow XU-1 in front :tease:

Posted Image

Up past the Toranafest site and found "surfs up"

Posted Image

Great winding road to the beach parking lot but still had a pesky slow XU-1 in front

Posted Image

Arriving at the beach was a site to behold with more Toranas than you could poke a defect notice at

Posted Image

I think there were about 57 Toranas in the car park and some of them had brought along special guests like this lady :)

Posted Image

Mick McCardle came up to me and said that there was this "woman" who needed a lift back to the motel.
Being the gentleman that I am I extremely fastly speedily quickly took up the offer for "her" to be my passenger back ;)

Posted Image

WELL some one had to do it :D

What a lovely gracious lady is our Bev Brock :spoton:

At the BBQ that night there was another special guest

Posted Image

Yes, the HVTC had some how managed to dig up Elvis :blink2: to make a surprise appearance.
Don't think Danny was quite convinced it was the "King of Rock 'n Roll"

End of Part 1

My twisted view on Tornafest 2010 ..... Part 2

Theme for Toranafest this year was "Living in the 70's" which seemed to fit these 3 clowns

Posted Image

Posted Image

BUT we all knew who ended up the "bunny" out of this lot

Posted Image

ME

BUT who was the best dressed on the day .... White Knight and Big T of course :spoton: AKA Keith and Tony

Posted Image

Also winner on the day for best display was Scotty and his caravan which was clearly a crowd favourite :spoton:

Posted Image

Another crowd favourite was Michael Chamberlain and his 2 yellow Hatchbacks "4ENSIC and 4MOVIE"

Posted Image

It seemed everyone wanted to pose with Michael's cars

Posted Image

Posted Image

Herne's DREAM seemed lonely

Posted Image

BUT not for long as this admirer thought highly of Al's car :spoton:

Posted Image

Ya never know just who you might meet at Toranafest

Posted Image

This is Adrian who I haven't seen for over 25 years and is my daughter's god-mother's son

AND there were a lot of admirers looking at his silver LX :clappin:

Posted Image

The Shannon's rig was a great place to take some photos from

Posted Image

It was also a good place to hide an imposter :wtf:

Posted Image

Bev met up with Peter and me with Alan Moffat

Posted Image

Most of the trophy winners were happy with their wins but Pat (Yella SLuR)wasn't with his but he proudly displayed it on the window of his car, a defect notice

Posted Image

Now that Toranafest is over I will have to make a confession  I was unfaithful to my wife .... twice, well I had to do it again so I could get a photo taken of my infidelity

Lovely work as usual Barry :) Cant get enough of your one liners....

You are right I have never seen the Dream look so lonely! I also note not as many photo's of the Dream appeared to be taken by forum members this year. ?

Did Danny tell you what Bev said about my car? If not then ask me next time you see me... What she said will do me mate lol.
Gotta love that lady.

Cheers
Al.

4ENSIC and 4MOVIE..... I searched and couldn't find any info. What's the story with those 2 cars and the number plates?

4ENSIC: "Australia's Most Historic and Forensically Mistreated Torana!"
This is the original car that was the centre piece of the Forensic investigation into the death of Azaria Chamberlain. It is still owned by Michael Chamberlain after it was retured to him back in 1990. (I will endevour to relay Michael's full story about the car in the coming months)..

4MOVIE: this is the replica car that was used in the movis "Evil Angels". This was the movie that told the story about the Azaria Chamberlain case.

I have so say, that as part of the organising committee of Toranafest 2010, I was very appreciative of Michael Chamberlain and his family to bring these two cars to Toranafest.

a-ha! I had a hunch about that, but I still had to ask.

Didn't the coppers strip that hatch bare looking for evidence?

Cheers for the info.

^^ I was wondering which boat was moored. If you looked out on Industrial Road you mighta seen a Yella Torana.

Oh, well, just released 'mule' shots of some new release of SL/R 5000 seen traveling in disguise around the Canberra area.

Found a secret weapon to improve braking for Bathurst next weekend..... Brake fluid on your drum brake shoes. Unfortunately only lasts 3 or 4 applications of the brakes!!!!

Already for tomorrow, wish me luck, will have the defect cleared and next years rego inspection done in one hit. There might be a God.

....& the reason you need smaller rims is to be legal?

Doesn't seem to matter that it actually makes the car less stable more dangerous to drive eh?

I guess the rules are there for a reason. :dontknow:
