Actually, I was thinking in my brayn today, an equivilent venue would be Eastern Beach in Geelong.
An hours run from Melb similar to Newcastle is from Syd and similar layout.
Mitch......close mate but no cigar.
Everyone on the planet recognises Melb. as the Holden/Torana mecca.
HDT HRT HSV blah blah blah..........

That is actually a very very good idea. Pity the Ford Factory is down that way... What about the Philip Island Racetrack? An event like Kustomnats... Cruise the track (No burnouts or over 80km/h) but just cruise around the track all day long if you like, or park the car on display... Now my brayn is ticking over...

as it is now 2011, I thought that I would give you a quick update about Toranafest 2011!!
I can tell you that we are currently in talks with Holden about getting the GTR-X up to Newcastle for Toranafest.
We still have a long way to go, but I am confident that we can pull it off!!
As well as the GTR-X, we are talking to alot of others about some Toranas that have not been seen for a very long time, as well as some real legends of the Torana Era!!
The Club and I are working hard already to make this another great Toranafest.
I will post more details as they come to hand.
cheers
Mick

well the planning for Toranafest 2011 is in full swing and I thought that it would be timely to put some information up for those looking at coming along.
Toranafest 2010
Toranafest has grown more and more over the past few years to nothing short of a Festival of Torana!! This year it will be held over the weekend Saturday/ Sunday the 17th/18th September, 2011. Apart from the usual Show and Shine on the Sunday, we have again, incorporated a few other things this year.
Saturday 17th September
Toranafest Cruise
This has become a popular event to start the weekend off! This year the cruise will be to another great location in Newcastle, devoid of traffic lights, and some open roads! All up it will be a round trip of approx. 70kms. This is open to all entrants to Toranafest and usually involves those staying at Motto Farm Motel as well as other local entrants. The venue for this year will provide some perfect photo opportunities. Numbers for this event last year was 57 Toranas and the sight of these cars going through Newcastle was outstanding! If you are interested in being part of this event, please email us at: [email protected]
Toranafest "Meet and Greet BBQ"
This event has become somewhat expected by those interstate guests who choose to stay at the Toranafest Motel. The BBQ is a night were Torana lovers from all over the country get together and relax and talk about their favorite hobby, their Torana!! It is also an opportunity to rub shoulders with the VIPs and sponsors of Toranafest. Again, this will be a great night and we hope to see you there! If you are not staying at Motto Farm, and would like to attend the Meet and Greet BBQ, the cost is $35.00pp. If you are interested in being part of this, please email us at: [email protected] . Numbers will be limited to 200, so be quick!
Sunday 18th September
Toranafest Show and Shine
Located on the Shortland Lawn area off Wharf Road, Newcastle (Newcastle Harbour), Toranafests static car show is open to all variants of Toranas. We encourage everything from the Daily Driver, Show Car, Drag Car, to a works in progress! It doesnt matter what model your Torana is, as long as its your pride and joy, your welcome!!
Entry fees this year will be $40 to pre-enter and $30 if you enter on the day. The pre-entry fee includes a Toranafest T-shirt, Goodie Bag, and Entrants Trophy. For those entering on the day, you may only receive an Entrants Trophy, depending on final entrant numbers.
Set up times will be from 7.00am, and all cars need to be in place NLT 9.00am. All cars will be arranged in a series of rings in the main area. There is plenty of room to picnic with the family, as well as there being only a short walking distance to shops and Newcastle Beach. We strongly advise that entrants bring plenty of sun protection by way of shade shelters. The maximum size for these is 3m x 3m. If you have other sizes, please contact us to confirm suitability.
Accomodation
We have been working hard alongside the Motto Farm Motel to come up with some very good room rates and pricing for the Meet & Greet BBQ and Dinner costs for those staying. Clubs are to organise as bulk bookings to make it easier for both the Clubs and the Motel. For accommodation bookings, please contact Eliza on 1800 131 735.
Also, we are confident that we will once again be providing Roving Security in the grounds of the Motel for Fri, Sat and Sun night.
VIP's
We have been able to confirm the following VIP's for Toranafest;
Bev Brock
Ian Tate
Leo Pruneau
Joe Felice and
John Sheppard.
Others that we are hoping to get include,
John Harvey
The Nowacki Bros
Dave McLean
James Brock and
Des West
SPONSORS
Apart from being a great car show, Toranafest is also the way in which we raise much needed funds for our chosen charity, Ronald McDonald House in the Hunter. Without the help of local and national sponsors, we would not be able to put on such a successful show and still raise money for such a great cause. If anyone would like to be a sponsor of Toranafest and would like more information, please email or call me and we can discuss the different options available.
One point I have to make, we are having some technical problems with our Toranafest Website so we will be updating information through the GMH-Torana Forums as things happen, so keep an eye out on here. Hopefully we will have the website up and running in the coming months.
If you have any questions, please contact:
 Mick McCardle (sstorana) on 0423 207 755
 Peter Morris (RedLJ) on 0432 333 729.
or PM either of us..
We look forward to seeing you all there!!
Torana on!!
Here is this years entry form as well.

The little demountable shed versions would be perfect and probably not worthuch more than a bunch of single loos?
Just an idea

Are there any plans for a portaloo block this year? I know that the females in our family say the same thing everyyear about the state of the loos near the park.
The little demountable shed versions would be perfect and probably not worthuch more than a bunch of single loos?
Just an idea
Great idea!
Now if I could just get the Council to fund it, even better... Doh!
We have to pay for the portaloos as the council won't and they are not cheap!
The single ones are the best as we can have them spread out across the park.
We had a bank of loos in 2009 (they were near the entrance) and we were told that no one could find them..
We will be sticking with the single portaloos as most people found this to be the best solution to the problem..
cheers
Mick
