Can you fit a non-pollution(aftermarket) manifold to a car with pollution heads?

I have a Red 253 out of a commo fitted to the wife's LH track hack, the original 2 barrel manifold has corroded too much and i'm getting water in the oil, and shes runnin like a pig.(the car..not the wife.LOL )
But i have a Redline 4 barrel manifold sitting in the shed, and seeing as this is a track only car and runs no emission control devicesi thought i'd throw it on,
can i run this manifold on the pollution type heads?

thanks in advance

No you can not , although its possible to block the ports in the head i'm not sure what they fill or cover them with .

but wouldn't the ports in the head just be covered up by the manifold itself? all they did on the old manifold was go into a chamber.....do nothing..... then come back out.
where are the ports on the head fed from? direct from the exhaust valves or?????

Depends on the aftermarket manifold. The exhaust crossover in the manifold between the heads is not an anti-pollution device in itself, although it does feed the EGR in standard manifolds. Some aftermarket manifolds such as the Edelbrock Performer will retain the exhaust crossover (but delete the EGR), others have a suitable face to simply block the exhaust ports in the heads. Either of those styles will be fine, but if it doesn't deal with the exhaust ports at all then you need to figure something else out.

I have a VL (308) motor in my car and ordered the motor with Edelbrock Performer. There wasn't a problem with that configuration. The heads were worked, I'm not sure if they had to do any mods for the manifold.

Looks OK to me, I'd perhaps just put a bit of extra high temp sealant around the port just in case
